I heard Keita and Studge were brilliant alright. It'd be interesting to see if a fit Sturridge would be able to change how he plays to suit Klopp's style.

Hendo, Lovren and TAA won't start the first game of the season afaik.

Yeah, even as someone who hates Liverpool, that looks like a fantastic team. It would be a lot better for the league if City do not run away with it again. Just hope Spurs and United step it up too

I don't think Sturridge will ever fit his style because of the amount of defensive work that has to be done by his forwards,But he'll be boss as a sub I think. He's still an amazing finisher, Just think he's scared to use his pace again.

I think TAA will play, He's coming back a little earlier. But Klopp has to force Henderson to take a holiday, but still.

TAA - Clyne
Lovren - Matip/Klavan
Henderson - Milner, Lallana, Gini.

My God, It's good to have a bit of a depth!

Still need a AM with only Lallana suitable there but Sturridge, Hendo, Gini, Naby could do a job in AM. On paper best transfer window ever though.

I don't think we'll buy Fekir unless we unload about £40m worth of players.

Complete conjecture this, obviously, but had Roy Keane been English or been eligible to play for England, I think we would have had a strong chance of winning the World Cup in 98. There were quite a few decent teams in that tournament, but I think England were utinately unlucky to get knocked out in the second round.

He could have seen us over the line in Euro 96 too.

Shane Ferguson never got to work with Shearer and Gazza too. While it's admirable Shearer just wanting to play for the club he loved, I think he could have pushed on a little more if he had gone outside his comfort zone. He's still the all-time top scorer in the Premier League, mind, so he wasn't exactly a failure.

I read in the paper yesterday that United's late stage World Cup players (Pogba, Rashford, Lingard, Jones, Young and even Lindeloff) will not only be missing their preseason American tour but also the first game of the season?

How can that possibly be necessary?

Liverpool face the same Issue, spurs maybe too although they haven't said anything.

I presume fitness experts have advised how much rest players need, it's why Klopp told Henderson and Trent to take holidays against their will.

To be fair to Spurs, they may as well give Harry Kane the whole of August off

He looked knackered in the later stages of the WC, although he said he's ready to play from the start, I reckon they should rest him.

Luckily Mo's been on his hols for a couple of weeks now and is back to training next week.

It's weird how the World Cup just cropped up on everyone like that. What they really need to do is give these poor teams four years' notice.

If people think this World Cup is having an impact on 18/19, just wait until we have to deal with 2022....

It's going to be god-awful isn't it? Most of the bigger clubs won't want to play games due to squad decimation (which is fair), then it would devalue the league and cause unfair advantages across the board if teams like Palace with 1/2 representatives in Qatar play the likes of Liverpool who could easily be missing the first XI posted on the page (apart from Robertson, obviously ;) )...

If City had to play games during this world cup the entire first team squad would have been Bravo/Laporte/Zinchenko/Sane/Yaya, maybe they could do 5 a side games to keep the season going?

I actually don’t think that will be bad considering it will be middle of the season and they’d come back barring any injuries. There won’t be any holidays or anything like now. Then having to do pre season.

The only way it will be bad for clubs is if players pick up injuries, but that can easily happen whenever the World Cup is.

It’s just worse for the supporter because there’s no football in June or July.
