A good start with a win and three points. :)

Bit of drama at the end but job done. We played pretty poorly but it's just about the points for the first few games.

I think Alexis is almost trying too hard. Every time he's looking to play the ball forward fast and he's either under hitting passes or over hitting them.

I do think eventually his quality will shine through.

Looking forward to having Matic, Lingard and Lukaku back in the starting line up.

honestly, I think you will be best cutting losses on him. he's been this way for a good couple years now

If Pereira keeps this up then Matic shouldn't be getting straight back into the starting line up.

He was really good in preseason playing upfront rather than wide. He should have been playing there tonight with Rashford out wide.

Good result. Very pleased for Shaw. Started well but didn’t really capitalise.
Three points so not too upset.

Good news from last night, Fred and Perriera (back from loan) both look good, mobile additions to the squad. If Shaw becomes a genuine first team contender this year, that will be another bonus.

The not so good news .... I dread to think how ropey Sanchez would have been without his first proper pre-season in ages. And it's probably best not to mention Darmian.

Sanchez is a joke and hes paid a stupid amount of money. Arsenal did well to get shot of him imo.

He just needs to learn to hold down X longer when doing his short passes, they're too underpowered at the moment.

I still have faith in Sanchez he's been poor since joining us but we play differently to Arsenal so he needs to adapt.

I think Rashford as a lone striker doesn't suit us. Mourinho teams almost always rely on that big number 9 who can hold the ball up and win headers. Drogba, Lukaku, Ibra they are all Mourinho types.

Considering a lot of our lads have had busy summers with the World Cup I didn't care how we won last night or to be honest how we win in the next 3-4 games just get the points.

I think Matic will be straight back in the side he was fantastic for large parts of the season last season.

Leicester do look a decent side though I think thats worth pointing out I can see them finishing in the top 8.

Rashford as a lone striker doesn’t suit any team. He was terrible as a striker for England at the World Cup and he had Vardy alongside him.

He takes about 30 seconds to decide what to do with the ball before losing it. Screws up nearly every counter as a result of that. We can use the excuse that he is young. But he does it nearly every game. He had a purple patch with LVG, but for the last two years he’s been poor the majority of the games he has started. He can’t dribble past players or isn’t good in tight spaces to be a good winger. It would be crazy if we let Martial go and he stays.

If he wasn’t from the academy he would be blasted like Depay was.

The excuse he is young doesn’t buy with me. You look at Sterling he has the skill to get in good shooting positions but it’s his finishing or end product that lets him down. Rashford doesn’t have the skill to get in those positions. He’s just always ponderous on the ball. He should have been loaned out.

I love the excitement and the feeling of hope just as a new season starts  .

Before those dreams are swiftly crushed, of course.

So good to have football back.
