I thought this when they brought out that film about him last year. He definitely deserves it. He got an MBE on the 80s which I presume was for football services, but for his work since then with the Hillsborough families he has certainly been worthy of the top gong. Perhaps now is the right time as it's all come out in the wash with the public inquiry.

Was that the BBC one? Discovered it earlier this week, was really good

Fekir could be delayed till after WC so his fee goes into Lyons next season accounts.

5 year deal agreed, fee agreed and Lyon being banana splits. I reckon we should walk away if can’t get done now.

Top man. Well deserved. I heard a thing on the radio this morning which said they took into consideration a variety of things. They mentioned services to football, his support of the Hillborough families *and* how he's helped raised a lot of money for local causes. +1 to it being long overdue.

Hey I’m not doubting he deserves one for the all the Hillsborough stuff and for being an elder statesman of the game etc, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t taint his legacy with all that Suarez defence stuff, it was ridiculous and beneath him and it shouldn’t be forgotten. Only the most one-eyed Liverpool fan would deny it.

Pointing it out on the day he is knighted is rather gooseberry fool thing to do though considering all the great things he did for Liverpool’s community as a whole. Only the most one eyed Manu fan would deny that.

Maybe check out 5 lives Hillsborough documentary to educate yourself on who you’re criticising over a bad PR decision.

This thread really is a cesspool.

It was just called Kenny. It came out on DVD around Christmas and had a limited run in a couple of indie cinemas in Liverpool I think. I bought it for my mate for Christmas, but I haven't seen it. I just remember seeing him on North West Tonight without a "sir" and thinking he should probably have one.

I totally agree with Preezy and I strawberry floating hate Man United. There’s no doubt this knighthood is fully deserved and should have come earlier, but that doesn’t mean you can’t mention a time he messed up in the same conversation.

Stop overreacting.

It wasn’t a ‘conversation’ it was a one sentence dig.

I’m criticising the comment he made. For that to be the first thing to think of about Dalglish I feel is distasteful. Everything has context and to point out a mistake ignoring the vast good he’s done for Football and grieving families I think is actually disgraceful.

He was wrong on the Evra/Suarez racism thing. I would have thought just keeping out of it and letting the powers that be investigate would be the right thing to do.

Don't begrudge him the knighthood though he's done a lot of good for a lot of people.

I can hardly help it if the first thing I think of when seeing Kenny Dalglish is the t-shirt fiasco

And of course I’m not ignoring all the good work he did, I referenced it in my very next post on the matter. I’ve also seen the aforementioned documatery on him so I know all about his good work, but that still doesn’t mean I won’t mention the Suarez thing. There are plenty of revered sportsmen with an iffy spot on their biography. Fergie, Cantona and Beckham are just 3 United ones, I’m happy to admit their faults.

And the fact I mentioned it on the day he was nominated for knighthood is irrelevant, I doubt he even comes into this thread ;)
