I'm sure he'll be a decent player for Liverpool, but just in general it's amazing how a player can have 1 good season in a very average league and suddenly carry a huge price tag. First Joao Felix and now Darwin Nunez - seems that Benfica drive a very hard bargain!

Portuguese clubs are very shrewd in the transfer market when it comes to sales. The Nunez sale appears to be one of the things that has allowed Jota to come to Celtic for a much smaller fee of £7.5m(thanks for the UCL money Rangers :slol: ) so it can only be a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

No idea why I called him Diogo Jota there. That would've been a hell of a signing for Celtic.

It's out of the norm for Liverpool to pay this much for any player, Alisson and Virgil was literally all of the Coutinho money, they've earned about 60m in the CL alone last season but I reckon if Mane can be sold for £40m they see it as a shrewd investment. The track record of players getting better under Klopp is very good so I think this could work.

We tried to sign Nunez last summer and January 2021 and our scouts are very adept at unearthing great talent.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Apparently he is the real deal.

But don't take my word for it!

Over to Preezy with the stats.

Steady on. He's good, but he's not the best player in the league.

He's ranked second in goals (14). Top player is Darwin Nunez (15).
He's ranked second in goals per 90 (0.85). Top player is unsurprisingly Darwin Nunez (1.23).
He's ranked joint 9th in assists (4). Top player is Rafa Silva who has 13.
He's not in the top 10 for assists per 90. Top player here is Rafa Silva again with 0.92.
He's ranked 2nd for goals+assists (18) but is only ranked 4th for goals+assists per 90 (1.09). Top players for both of those categories is Rafa Silva (20 and 1.42 respectively).
He's not in the top 10 for crosses.
He's top ranked for shots (62) but isn't in the top 10 for shots on target %.

Rafa Silva or Darwin Nunez could be rightly considered the best players in the Portuguese league, but I can see why you'd still be excited - I wish United were buying new players!

And yes, I should be working :P

Better than Diaz

Yeah he knows his stuff

I'm well up for Nunez, Looks boss Some of his style of play reminds me of Torres

Not arsed about the fee either. But whatever fee it is, Almeria are getting 20% So that could be why it's high.

Can see us going to a 4-2-3-1 if he does come in though!

Seen a tweet the other night, Something a long the lines of;

Clubs aren't allowed to announce any signings during the transfer window, but on the last day the league hosts an event where all the new players are announced and shown off. All shown on TV.
Sounds cool, but I'll forever be a Transfer Muppet

Klopp has become very good at identifying who he needs and then the club getting it done quickly. If he's as successful (and slots in) as quickly as jota and Diaz have - It will certainly soften the blow of Mane leaving.

£85m is too much.

I think he will be struggling for a while until he settles down a bit later in the Premier League.

Almost halfway through June and no new signings in at Old Trafford, they'd better pull their finger out soon or ETH will be fielding academy players!

£64m (€75m) with add ons that can get to £85m (€100m) with add ons.

6 year deal on £100k a week wages.

Not that bad at all really.

£85m is only if everything is hit. I imagine it'll be winning the league and CL things like that!

Good old net spend too - It's £63 Million up front. Selling Mané for £35/40 million, Minamino for £17 million. That's pretty much the base few covered.

I hope he's a big hit though. Klopp wants him, that's more than good enough for me. He's rarely missed for us. 1

I could be wrong though. If he is starting on fire then it will be a great signing.

Some players came to the Premier League with a big transfer fee and they were struggling at the beginning or during the year. Example - Lukaku for £97m. Rubbish.

Your example is among one of the worst signings in Premier league history.

Nunez is definitely worth the risk. The amount of chances he'll get to score at Liverpool are a strikers dream.

Apparently he’s got to start 60 games in five years for Benfica to be paid the full whack. Not really a stretch.
