Pokémon Co. pondering how to ensure quality of Pokémon games while keeping up their release cadence

Hmmmm, I wonder what they could do, maybe release fewer but better performing games with a longer development time? Use some of the insane profits from the games to hire more staff? Outsource some aspects out to other studios? I really don't think fans of the games, TGC, would bemoan an extra year between a brand new game, the anime and merchandise probably wouldn't miss any sales, or a handful at most.

Oh who am I kidding, the vocal fans would be fuming if they didn't get a new game every year

I spent half hour today re-arranging my Pokemon Home to make sure all my full Sinnoh pokemon were in line ready for my living dex I'm working on and after doing everything I forgot to save thinking it autosaved in the app. Had to do it all over again v_v

I'm still annoyed there's not at least the option to sort everything by Dex order over all your boxes, or what game it was originally caught in, or just more ways to automatically sort your boxes in general, sure you can view them in Nat Dex order, but its not ideal in my opinion.

There's another thing that TPC have done that are annoying people. They DQ'd a load of players at Worlds for using hacked Pokemon. It's an interesting problem, because until now they've done very little about hacked pokemon and waited for the biggest event of the year to do it. Other issue is I understand that getting perfect Pokemon legitimately is really difficult these days (especially if they're one a game spawns and you have to reset every time), but still it's always been a rule not to use hacked pokemon and you can even get your Home account banned if you put them in your home regardless of if it was traded to you.

If it's against the rules and always has been surely them being dq'd for rule breaking makes sense, but their argument is a lot of people are using hacked mon so I have to to keep up.

While I appreciate a lot of the fun for the player is making your own team, from a spectator’s POV, actually watching them use random teams of EV trained Pokémon would be fun as well, be proper like Pokémon Stadium games

If you haven't already, I'd thoroughly recommend giving the TCG gameboy game a go, that they just recently added to the Switch Online pack. I hope they add the unreleased-outside-japan sequel some day. I'd recommend setting text speed to the fastest (5) and battle animations to 'skip some', and it's one of the best paced RPGs out there imo. There's also a neat little feature called Card Pop - whenever you connect with another player you get a random card, but you can only pop with a person once. There are 2 cards exclusive to card pop, so get poppin!

I wasted so much time trying to get a shiny Rufflett and eventually got one.

Then I decided to boot up Arceus and managed to get a second shiny Shinx and a Shiny Hisuin Zoroa from swarms!

So to continue on my dex hunting journey I have:

Crystal/Gold
Alpha Sapphire (Finished both Ruby and Sapphire on GBA, but I've heard this is good and getting Pokemon from that gen is a pain in the ass)
Black/White/White 2 (White 2 I just ordered a JP copy for £15 which is insane) (White I finished back in the day, but never got a full dex)
X/Y (Y I finished back in the day, but never got a full dex)
Moon/Ultra Sun (Started moon and played it for like an hour when it came out then gave up)
Shield (Played less than an hour)

Left to play to get the complete dex. I got up to the elite 4 in Crystal then stupidly started trying to hatch a shiny ekans which I heard the odds were good and I've wasted about 10 hours and until I'm done I'm sunk cost fallicied in to getting it before moving on. Is there any games you guys would advise me to go and do first and any you'd suggest to save until last?

Are you looking to get a full dex in each of them? Or just want the better games to be left till later kind of thing?

I'm going for a living dex so I just need the dex pokemon from each game, but if you think any are significantly better and I should save them for later to get more enjoyment then that's also good. I'd rather get the worse games out the way if anything.

The worst games on your list are probably Shield and X/Y, the rest are very good or great in my opinion.

If you just want to play them through then yeah I’d get those out the way first, obviously stuff regarding making Pokémon competitive quickly has got a lot better in the last 2 generations. Moon and Ultra Sun are the odd ones out in a sense, from a story pov the originals are better, the Ultra versions are too similar really, they make minor changes elsewhere to make them worth playing though.

The DLC is very good for Shield, especially the Crown Tundra but the rest is quite average sadly, some of the Pokémon they introduced are amazing though, Sinistea and Polteageist being my highlight.

Just got to the fourth badge town and I'm not really sure what people didn't like too much about Sword/Shield so far.

The characters are all pretty good and honestly I think I prefer the graphics, especially the character models and the way the Pokemon look to how they look in Scarlet/Violet lol. The game somewhat feels exactly how one of the classic games would be just in 3D.

They put some great new Pokemon into the gen 8 games really, never used a Mr Rime myself, but it was good to see Mr Mine finally get an evolution.

So one thing I'm really finding weird in this game is I swear the route pokemon throw off what level I expect the gym to be. I'm at the Ice Gym now and all the pokemon outside are level 40-44 but until now all the gym Pokemon (just got the leader) are up to level 39. One stupid thing I did do was waste a load of time levelling up a scorbunny I got from Violet when someone here traded it to me after the raid (but rather than use the traded one I made 3 eggs for the living dex and levelled one fully) it's now level 33 but it seems to take forever to level up in this compared to Violet, maybe it's just the locations and pokemon I'm using. I mainly used Area 0 to spam level in Violet so I guess I was getting a lot more XP overall - getting like 2000xp per Pokemon or something. I find I'm getting about 400 or so per wild Pokemon so it's taking forever. The stupid thing is I forgot ice was weak to Steel and I already have 3 pokemon who know steel moves at a high level.
