It does look much better than you'd expect for an ITV version of The Genius.

I hope they keep it as celebs and not the general public, and also have it airing while it’s still in production so we get the pre-credits banter and hype buildup

I would imagine, what with the UK's seemingly endless supply of panel show guests, we'd be able to keep it to celebrities without too much bother. I would also prefer it to be celebs I think!

I think the biggest hurdle to using celebs is that there’s not much culture of “clever” celebrities in the UK, or ones that can play with the game theory. Even the ones that are reputationally sharp trend towards quizzing and knowledge. Very few are from a background of problem solving and strategy.

Hard disagree on them needing to be celebrities. I'm not saying have none, because the original had a handful (Not that I knew any of them), but they also filled it out with genuinely smart "normal" people.

My main worries are that it won't be as good (It won't but I can live with that) and that they are going to try and fill it with C-Tier celebs. If I see Keith strawberry floating Lemon within a mile of the show I'm out.

But as far as I know it's just the general public. They put out a casting call in October for it, looking for contestants.

I just think that if it’s unknowns you’re looking at basically the Traitors, but 95% of the show is the task while 5% is the players interacting with one another. Even though they were mostly Korean celebs that I hadn’t heard of either, a quick intro was enough for me to have an assumed background for them formed.

I think it will be normal people but just trying to think of who will be in the inevitable celebrity version they eventually do.

Victoria Coren Mitchell is an obvious choice as there's always a poker player in these things.
My pick though would be Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso, next season of Taskmaster). Funny and very clever.

The idea of UK celebs doing this game has always made me want to throw up slightly. The sort of people who look 'intelligent' on screen simply do not have the skillset for this game.

I'd prefer to see regular people instead of "celebrities" with their PR to consider.

Yeah, I'm utterly spent with the whole UK 'panel-show celebrity circuit' on TV now. It would actually put me off watching I think if this were TV celebrities instead of selected members of the public. It's great having different people with different personalities, especially if the show has some depth to it.

Also I would watch it for the gameplay rather than the personalities which is a factor in my preference.
