Pretty sure the last time I posted in this thread was for Ash in Bristol a couple of years ago. They were great then and I'm seeing them again in Swansea tonight :toot:

Cool, I'm seeing them in Leicester tomorrow. Always a great live show.

In other gig-related news, my +1 for The Shins in Nottingham on Wednesday has cancelled on me, so I have a spare ticket if anyone wants to go. No charge.

Last call for this before I go on my own and sell to a tout. :dread:

Might've gone to a Nottingham show but saw them not too long ago anyway. They were pretty awesome though.

Seeing Metallica for the first time ever next month.

Tempted by that Glasgow gig but it's a little too close to Christmas.

Saw The National tonight at the Hammersmith Apollo. Top gig, albeit with some odd song selections. That said we got some rarities in Wasp Nest, Lucky You and Secret Meeting (!!!), all in a row too! Encore was a totally unexpected cover of Queen's I Want To Break Free, followed by Mr November, Terrible Love and then a big crowd singalong of Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks. Wonderful end to the show.

Not going near that - missed their Edinburgh gig due to a pre-booked holiday and am still not quite over it yet.

Security at Metallica tonight was so poor that we didn't get in until after the support act had finished playing even though we'd arrived in plenty of time. It's lucky I wasn't fussed about them but it sucks for people that were. Anyway, roll on Metallicock.

I went to see Weezer on Friday night, and the setlist was amazing. They basically pretended that they didn't have a new record to plug and instead played the majority of the Blue album instead. It was awesome.

PostRe: Gig & Festival - Metallica still kicking ass and blew the PA system last night!

Saw Metallica last night at Birmingham Genting Arena (NEC) on the last night of their UK leg. Tremendous set list including Shortest Straw (first play anywhere in 4 yrs apparently!), For Whom the Bells Toll, Spit Out The Bone, Dream No More, plus we had half of War Pigs with just Kirk and Rob.

The PA system blew during One  and we had a 5 min interlude till it resumed.

10/10 without question from me. They hinted at Download too when they finished "see you soon England!"

4th time I've seen them and this was the best set list, even if no Creeping Death or anything off Death Magnetic.

Metallica

From what I witnessed last night the support (Kvelertak) were awful. Couldn't understand anything he 'sang'. Guitars were ok but very samey. And what the hell he was wearing on his head when he came on stage - looked like an animals head of some sort, with wings? I was in the Gods so couldn't see clearly
Edit: it's an owl! https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=kvele ... upZO8SbI4M:

Oh man, I didn't realise they were touring with Kvelertak, I'd love to see them.

If that's the kind of setlist they're doing I'm *reasonably* glad I didn't part with my hundred quid - seen all the big songs before and am not that bothered about the new album. Good that they've abandoned Death Magnetic though - I wasn't a huge fan.
