What's it like as a music venue? I've only been in there to watch top gun at an open air screening they did, and it seemed a bit lop sided (context) for a proper traditional stage setup.

Me and the wife were talking about this last night. We used to go every year, and while you don't know the line-up when you buy the tickets, more often than not there would be a lot you'd like to see. The past few years have been bloody awful, and this year if we'd gone there would be barely anything we'd want to watch.

"OH BUT IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MUSIC IT'S ABOUT THE VIBE!"

The first few times maybe, but I could draw the entire site for you from memory now, and I know what most of it is like so there's be no discovery. The price of the tickets plus food and drink etc just makes it crazy money for two people. We now spend that money going to one really good show, usually abroad somewhere, that we really want to see.

The amount of middle aged middle class people you see on the coverage :dread:

There are a load of great bands at Glasto this year, sounds like a case of not listening to newer music

A lot of the criticism seems to be people who have become old and are furious Oasis aren’t headlining. ;)

The venue was surprisingly great actually, I'd definitely go to another gig there. Stage was in the north east corner, far right on this pic:

Pretty much the whole place was full but the crowd thinned out a bit toward the left hand side - they stuck most of the bars and merch stuff over there.

One of the smoothest organised and most civilised gigs I've been to as well!

What is that, a concert venue for ANTS?!

I might consider it now as I'd always assumed it would be a bit gooseberry fool for music.

The real venue was at least.... 3 times bigger than that.

3 times bigger? Sounds like folly.

I do try listening to newer music bot very little of it actually appeals to me, I think it's because my taste lies in a grey area somewhere between mainstream and obscure/weird .

Royal Blood are playing at the Newport centre, which is not only 10 mins from my house, but also a tiny venue (we saw muse there a few years back) so will be stupidly loud :toot:

Saw Ministry last Thursday, and they were great. Played the whole of the latest album, AmeriKKKant, then on to a selection of classics.

It was great to see the latest album, but I think I probably would have preferred more of the old stuff, and the crowd only really got into it properly for the second half of the show.

That said, the first half had a harmonica solo, and a song about being antifa, so it was still pretty fantastic.

I saw them at the Birmingham Arena (NIA) in 2017. The venue seemed a little big for them if I’m honest but it was a good gig. Maybe the smaller, intimate venue you’re seeing them at will be better for them.

I’m off to see KISS for the 3rd (& final ever) time tomorrow. The wife and kids are coming too, and it’s my 9yr old’s 1st ever gig. He’s so excited bless him

He loved it!

KISS were great. Again. It's a tried and tested formula, but it works. Anyone who has seen them before will know exactly what to expect - Gene's fire breathing, flames, explosions, rising platforms, fireworks, confetti cannons, Paul flying out to a small centre stage, Gene dribbling blood before God of Thunder, Paul smashing his guitar at the end.

But blimey, it works. Soooooo much fire, so many really loud explosions, tons of fireworks.

Great gig. Great finale to their touring career.

And yes, a great first gig for my youngest too

What's Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast like for gigs? Some of my mates want to go and see Rammstein there since that and Coventry are the only UK dates they announced and lol @ travelling all the way to Coventry for a gig the place sounds boring as strawberry float.

Even worse if you travel to Coventry only to discover they're actually playing in Milton Keynes.

They're playing at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry next year on June 20th.

Awks.

Didn't know that. Will go look for tickets.

Thnx

Edit: apparently the MK show was this weekend just gone, so I'm really off the ball.

We watched their Glastonbury set the other night, and besides Flowers' dreadful shouting masquerading as singing, it was a great show and made us wish we'd gone to the Cardiff gig.
