Sticking to shows of bands not playing at festivals, mine would be something like:

Metallica - Wembley Stadium
Foo Fighters - Wembley Stadium
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Astoria 2
Faith No More - Hammersmith Apollo
Mastodon - Roundhouse

But then that's not including the likes of Iron Maiden, Sikth & Megadeth who all narrowly miss out. When I include festivals, the list just gets a bit silly though because they all just merge in to one and I don't really remember who was where. I think Metallica at Reading, Deftones at Sonisphere, Slipknot at Download, Megadeth at... Download? I can't really remember any years, but there's stand out performances that make those festivals special in my memory for certain reasons.

Black Sabbath - O2 Academy, Birmingham - 19/5/2012

Limited it to one per artist, else it'd be five Muse and Metallicas. Amazed Iron Maiden aren't in there at the minute. Twickenham falls for us being up in the nosebleeds(!), Arenas fall for being in seats, Sonisphere 2014 falls for... I dunno, it just wasn't up there. But considering they were "my" band for years, them not making the list is pretty frigging big.

Same here - if I'd not limited it I think I would have had Metallica at Sonisphere Poland 2010 in there, and their Sonisphere 2014 fan vote show on top of that. I was standing at Maiden's Twickenham show, paid a boatload of money for the ticket and felt entirely justified in doing so. That was some summer for gigs - T In The Park, Foo Fighters at Wembley, Maiden at Twickenham and Muse in Dublin. Pretty much the reason I still have an overdraft right there. :slol:

Joer - that Wembley 'Tallica gig is pretty much un-toppable as my no. 1 favourite gig of all time. Orion man. Orion.  Foos was a cracking day as well, I remember.

Almost forgot - Limp Bizkit at Sonisphere 2009 was monumental; the crowd were hating on them because of a tiff they'd had with Machine Head before the gig and then someone from the band - possibly DJ Lethal - wandered on stage wearing a Machine Head cut off and everyone in my section lost their gooseberry fool completely.

Ah man - I was 15! It cost my dad like £1000 to fly over, hotel, tickets, etc so I was doing well to have even had it (it was a birthday & christmas present, as much for me as for him I think (!!!!) and don't get me wrong - very fond memories of that whole experience! but as a show on its own... being that far away sucks, never been that far since). That Muse Marley show had a setlist I'm extremely jealous of to this day - Map, B&H and Take a Bow have all eluded me at the shows I've been to, though now I've got Dead Star three times the pain has been somewhat lessened. :P As for me I think Download 2012 was my second best Metallica show - I was in the Snakepit, which is the thing that a bunch of fans were in at Sonisphere last year too. Absolutely wicked experience (plus you get it for the whole day, so I saw Tenacious D and Biffy Clyro from about three rows back with no-one around me) but hearing Frayed Ends in Finland the day after I came out just edges over that. ;) I'd have put Muse at Download in too but you can't really beat a small gig for a band that size in your hometown (well... as close as they'll ever be to it) like.

Metallica - Wembley Stadium, 08/07/2007
Iron Maiden - Twickenham, 05/07/2008
Foo Fighters - Wembley Stadium, 07/06/2008
Symphony X - London Astoria, 06/03/2008
Megadeth - I thought this was in 2006 but setlist.fm doesn't have it. It was in London, though I don't remember the venue, but I did meet up with Joer and his mate.

I must say Megadeth in Poland were something special - Rust in Peace anniversary tour and they were on impeccable form.

That was the tour I was referring to when I mentioned a festival before hand. It was so good, that as soon as they finished I headed up to the merch stand to buy a shirt, only to find out they'd sold out already. :(

I did exactly the same thing.

Notable that all of Drum's top three were gigs I was also at. My presence must have elevated them in his mind. ;)

Oh, you was only at three of those gigs? Trying being at all five with him. Although I think I only met up with him at three of them too if memory serves me correct.

Corazon de Leon wrote:Was thinking about this earlier on. What are your all time top five gigs/band performances?

I can barely remember who I have seen, let alone the dates when I saw them. This list is subject to change when I remember somebody else.

Guns n Roses - 1993 (Milton Keynes Bowl) - My first proper gig and will always be special for that reason. :toot:

The Stone Roses - 2014 (Isle of Wight Festival) - I never thought I would get the chance to see the Stone Roses and finally managed it.

Blur - 2012 (Hyde Park) - As per the Stone Roses I loved them in the 90s and thought my chance of seeing them was gone when they split up. I am off to see them again on Saturday (again in Hyde Park!).

Iglu & Hartley - 2006/7/8??? (Bristol Thekla) - Probably a band nobody has ever heard of and certainly in no way a good band. strawberry floating awesome night though for reasons I will keep to myself.

Green Day - 2013 (Reading Festival) - They played the whole of Dookie, that was enough to make the weekend awesome.

1 Radiohead, Tel Aviv - Front row with Thom within touching distance and only 2,500 strawberry floaters in the cinerama and a blinding version of "Exit Music"
2 Pearl Jam, Amsterdam 2014 - Front row and completely lost it thus getting a bollocking off my gf
3 Pearl Jam, Stockholm 2012 - Front row and completely dehydrated after 3.5 hours
4. Cake - Dingwalls - They came on late, people started bottling the stage... brilliant!
5. REM/Blur - Milton Keynes - First you had the British pop at its finest with Damon giving it all then Michael Stipe came on stage and gave us a brilliant concert - This was the "what's the frequency kenneth?" era

strawberry float. This has totally ruined my plans to ask my girlfriend to marry me. Pretty devastated right now, gotta re-plan the weekend while trying not to feel too bummed the whole time.
