I'll have a couple of bets on it. Then going to friends to watch the race and have a beer or two.

This race (more than any) attracts the criticism because of it's length and so related endurance risks and the size /nature of the obstacles. That does add enormously to the spectacle though. Not saying it's right - just that is what it is about.

No one likes to see animals in pain but i think Barbaric is a bit much. There are far more worthy causes for the animal rights lobby and like minded individuals to focus on.

Paddy Power are offering deals for new customers and pay out on 5th place as well.

Edit:

Actually their deal seems to be bet £20 get £10 free. I don't know any that are just giving out free bets, but then I am not much of a gambler!

It will eventually get banned. Whether I support it or not. I think it's wrong, but I do enjoy betting. So I'll bet, if it was banned, I'd bet on other things. The National will continue for a while whether I bet or not, may as well enjoy the betting side.

No chance of it being gone in 20 years. It might look a lot different in 20 years, but it will not be gone.

Hopefully just a lot safer then!

Anyway I've made Pussy quid bets on 10 different horses ranging from 20/1 to 40/1. I would like to win small money. :)

I've had a fiver on Teaforthree and Lost Glory, and a crafty quid on Viking Blond. None of this Each Way womens betting.

On a second glance, I'd say there's hope for Purple Skirt.

I have £2 on Imperial Commander because my Mum phoned to ask me which horse I liked the sound of. I figured that's quite a badass sounding name. I have no idea how to gamble and what that £2 will mean if I win though.

It's not complicated. Imperial Commander is 16-1, so you'll win 16 times your bet if it wins (ie £32) plus your stake back. :)
