I expect it'll do fairly well, but nowhere near enough to justify the stupid money Amazon threw at it. Someone mentioned to me that the reason for the name is because every episode will be in a different country, so even just the budget for getting all the cast/crew/equipment from place to place is going to be ridiculous before you even start shooting anything.
Amazon has slotted Friday, November 18 for the launch of new original series The Grand Tour, starring former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. New episodes will be released every Friday for 12 weeks on Amazon Prime Video.
The show will feature short films shot in different locations around the globe and the studio audience portion of the showcase will also take place at a different location. The first episode will feature Jeremy, James and Richard in their first studio tent recording in California.
The trio have committed to three series of The Grand Tour as part of a global TV deal.
