It was never the point of the project. The very first post originally (he's since edited it with random rules) stated that it would be an alphabetical list, not a numbered one.

Adding positions ferments massive, pointless heated arguments. We see them every time some mag or site does a Top 10/25/50/100 list.

There have been 3 Paper Marios, though I heartily endorse the striking of Super Paper Mario from the annals of History :fp:

Then what was the point in us ordering our games?

Anti-climax.

For once, a top 100 list that I adore. Very glad it's not numbered. :)

It's a fairly predictable list.

Saying that sounds ungrateful and whiny: it's not. But the vast majority of those games were games anyone could see making the cut, even if they didn't vote for them.

It's a great list and there are some bona fide classics there (some, Herbi, over ten years old - and I'd wager the overwhelming majority of them will still remain great in another ten years). It shows that as a collective we have good taste, but then we saw it coming.

I'm surprised, though, that a list topic that's been up an hour has made just over a page on a Monday night. If it were ordered it'd be far busier. PP, it's a grand list, and I admire your efforts to encourage appreciation of classics rather than pointless rows and age-old opinions-stated-as-fact arguments (as well as your collation of votes!) but the fact is that you now have in your possession a fairly valuable document: an ordered GRCade top 100.

DON'T publish it... yet. Why not make this into a game? People should order that list in how they think it turned out, and then we score it, Edgebreaker style. For each correct placing you get one point. People post their entries and then PP makes the big reveal. That way, perhaps people will be more concerned with how well they did, rather than their favourite games.

Plus, seeing ordered lists is morbidly fascinating, as is the arguments they create. Admit it.

Could I get a PM of the top 10/20/etc most voted for games, PP?

Can't say I disagree with any games in that list except RE5.

I wouldn't mind a gander at a ranked list, though the game idea is a bit daft really, does anybody really want to go through and predict how 100 games will be ordered and to ask PP to go through each entry and mark them all is a bit much.

I agree with Dan, OR can I get them all PM'd to me in order of highest scoring.

It would make discussion more interesting because as it stands most of that list is quite predictable. The only thing we don't know is where they'd place (except for the top two positions). People debating (or arguing) over certain games which didn't make the cut or Game A placing higher than Game B, that's the sort of banter I remember GR for.

Three of my top ten failed to make the cut.

Dragon Quest and Fire Emblem I can understand, but it's a shame World of Goo missed out.

The only I'd really have problems with is Windwaker but that won't surprise anyone. Nice to see Dead Rising, Resident Evil 2, Super Metroid and Link to the Past in there as I thought a lot of people here had passed them by. RE 2 (of the oldschool) and Super Metroid are easily the best of their series and Link to the Past is bested only by Ocarina.

That's why we'd post them in the thread, and mark our own. It could be locked to prevent cheats.
