Ok folks, it's officially Autumn. The nights are drawing in and the temperature is plummeting.

This thread is going to be a battle of courage and determination.

WHO WILL BE THE LAST TO TURN ON THEIR HEATING*!!

If you're reading this, you're playing!
The premise is simple, be the last person to put your heating on.
This will rely on honesty, so post in the thread once you've put your heating on and you'll go onto the Wall of Warm™

To make this more difficult than last year, we've added an extra challenge: The Cost Of Living Crisis redux, just to really spice up the challenge!

We'll keep going until there's only one member left in the cold or until the first day of spring ~~2023~~ 2024. Which ever comes first.

*Heating is defined by Central heating, storage heaters, plug in electrical heaters, calor gas heaters, diesel space heaters, those pretend coal electric fire things and log fires

This year it's even more of a competition because lots can't really afford the idea of turning on their heating. I'm in.

Its blanket and hot water bottle time at mine at the moment! Hoping to hold out for a bit.

Not yet, but my water bottle burst today. Not sure why, as I’ve barely used it.

I usually just about make it through October and then tap out at the start of November.

In like a frozen Rat in a frozen drain pipe.

you know what? it almost went on a few days ago, but since I am moving soon (into what is going to be a colder house) the current thought process is to acclimatise.

Been wearing 3 layers all week but no heating on yet!

A forum member has PM'd me to ask, but I'd like to put this to a vote:

Heated blankets. Are they counted the same as putting the heating on?

No way. Neither is a hot water bottle.

What becomes trickier is a portable electric heater/radiator. It's not the "the" heating, but it is sort of doing the same thing?

I reckon you need to ask the question : is this device's purpose to heat the air? If yes, then it is "the" heating.

One could argue portable electric heaters are not cheating as such like its within the rules but not the spirit of the game - agree people shouldn't be that guy! Its like Bradley Wiggans with the therapeutic use exemptions.

If your device's primary purpose is to heat air, then you have the heating on. Warming the room via playing Last of Us 2 on a launch PS4 is fine.

Then you cannot use a hot water bottle either then? You have turned energy into heat for the sole purpose of keeping you warm.
