I've opted this past month to stop washing my hair every other day and extended it to every 4. Initially it's horrible, but now it doesn't get anywhere near as greasy. I've read various things on over-washing so maybe there's something in it. Dumped the conditioner as well.

Are there any reasons I should seek a hairdresser/salon instead of a barber to get my hair cut. I have medium long length hair and I feel it could be styled better/possibly? I'm not hugely fussy when I go to get a hair cut normally at a barber, because I don't really know what to go for, I just ask for a trim, which essentially is trimming the ends of the length of my hair on all sides of my head. Sometimes they layer it a bit and basically the result is the same but slightly shorter. Often they are lazy and don't even trim the side burns. Now I often see pictures or interviews with famous celebrity/movie stars and their hair looks strawberry floating good. I used to think it was mostly about products you use and type of hair, thickness. but maybe I need a stylist to actually do something that looks decent. has anyone ever gone to a stylist/hairdresser.

I only go to proper hairdressers, you can see the difference. I got told the sign of a good haircut is that a few hours later you can't tell it's just been cut and that's been a good guideline for me.

Yeah man I've been going to the same hairdressers for probably 8 years now. Appointments only so no waiting round. Cost £15 though but I believe its worth it

Yeah, I think next time i'm definitely going to go and try a proper hairdressers. Do you go to any specific one. How much does yours cost usually. near me well known places i could try. There's a Tony and Guy in town, but I think they're a little too much for what I need.

Most barbers I've been to in recent time usually charge me around 15-20 quid. never feels worth it.

20 quid for a barber job is a rip off, I'd expect a proper haircut for that no doubt. Back home in Edinburgh I was paying between £15-£25 (for the top end stuff, got a free beer with the latter and an insanely hot chick to do my hair). I'm abroad now so generally pay much less.

Just Google the best place in your town, has never let me down no matter where I am in the world.

Same but it takes strawberry floating ages to dry/straighten long hair and my arms get tired. Slowed the washing down when I got it bleached and coloured because it would fade quicker and seems to last three days just fine. (Though tomorrow is probably day 5 and I'm up late home/up early so I'll bust out the dry shampoo)

Has anyone here used the Philips OneBlade? I've noticed it getting quite a lot of traction these past few months, and I'm just wondering if it'll work out better value than constantly buying Gillette's 15 blade razors.

depends on what you wan't it for. If you just go for the clean shave look then I'd recommend just getting a double edge razor and buying the blades in bulk.

However if you want it tor trim and stuff then I'd give it a shot - I've thought about picking it up as my iStubble is no longer holding a charge

I have a oneblade and its awesome. Bought one as I had a few tesco vouchers and it was on offer, great thing. Way better than the babyliss i whatever everyone raves about.

I'm trying to grow a bit of facial hair. I have no idea what I'm doing and probably look like your average 17 year old, as I've always just clean shaven every few days...I thought what the hell I'll try something different.

Trouble is, the bit between my sideburns and chin hair wont grow....anyone had this issue? Shave the side burns? Shave the goatee gooseberry fool? Shave it all as I'm a failure of a man?

I'd like an aragorn beard but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon....but he also looks like a man who struggles with the old facial hair and has somehow prevailed.

When growing the beard should you trim it every so often to make it look tidier ya? I put my razor on setting 3 ... 3mm i guess and trim it down every few days, but the gaps still arent catching up.

Also hair on the neck below the sideburns? Definitely clean shave that rubbish yeah?

Beard growth is different for everyone. Some people seem to blessed with it, others not so much. I have good growth. One side is slightly thinner than the other, but it's not enough to notice.

Keep that strawberry floater trimmed. It's less hassle, I do mine every 4 weeks or so. Coming up to the four week, it starts to get a bit messy and I always get those thick black dead hairs in it (I assume this must be shaving foam getting into the pore and killing the follicle).

It can be tough starting a beard; it takes time and you have to fight the temptation to cut it. As Squinty says, beard growth varies from person to person and some folk may have to be a little more patient than others.

If you're looking for advice on beard growing I'd recommend checking out Jeff's Beard Board. It has a wealth of useful tips, lots of examples of beard growing and can deliver a bit of a boost it your own beard growth is proving frustrating. Their top tip for those looking to grow a bead is to leave the initial growth un-touched for thirteen weeks. It can feel like a heck of a time but it sure does pay dividends in the end! Of course, the approach can be varied for individual situations; I tended to lop off the odd stray hair to keep things reasonably tidy, but restraint is key.

Ive been using a oneblade just to keep my face trimmed up, before that an i-trim, because I like a few mm of stubble. Ive noticed that the more you keep up on trimming it, the thicker it grows everywhere. I have a patchy face in spots but even I have full cover now, if patchiness is a concern of yours.

I guess it just takes a bit to train the hair away from being soft after years of clean shaves.

They were really helpful and did tests on my face to tell what the level of dryness was on different parts of my face. I already use their moisturiser and cleanser. So thought I'd add this to my daily routine as I have quite dry skin.

Also got this face mask last week from Lab Series. Never used face masks before but figured it would be fun to try it out. £26 but you only do it 1-2 times a week.

It used to be like £30 the last time I bought a bottle and that's still half full. I'm not a regular user because my skincare routine is whack but it's good stuff.
