I agree, Mad Max should have been a lot higher than 25th.

Maybe something like 1000th?

Glad we all agree it should be higher and struck from the top 50.

Yes?

But we don't all agree.

Splatoon, along with Rez, should blasted off to the moon and never spoken of again as far as I'm concerned.

People like these games though, so that's why they voted for them (although they were probably high at the time).

Xenoblade is probably the bestest RPG. Should be higher. Or lower.. Which ever is closest to number 1.

Not played XC1 but I agree with Balladeer that XC2 should be much higher!

It's certainly better than that Mad Max shite! :P

I didn’t actually vote for XC2. It’s good, but not Top Ten of the Decade good.

It would be my highest rated JRPG though (assuming Muramasa doesn’t count), just ahead of niche gem Bravely Second.

Not sure about Splatoon, but Rez is a stone cold classic.

It literally doesn't matter what you think of the game, it is a classic.

Mad Max on the other hand is a fairly generic open world game, even if you happen to love the game, its destined to be bettered by many, many games in the coming years.

Not that I'm saying you have to take that into account, its just a list of your favourite games at the moment, just pointing out that Rez will have a long lasting impression on the world, while Mad Max will inevitably fade into obscurity.

I hadn't expected quite so much annoyance to be shown about a game reaching 25th place :o .

What's gonna happen when Sonic Boom makes the top ten? ...

Rez will have a long lasting impression on the world

You think? Outside of the occasional mention on gaming sites like this one I "literally" never hear Rez discussed by anyone, gamer or no.

If you had said something like GTA having a lasting impression on the world I'd be with you, but Rez? Not in the slightest. Rez is not a classic, it's a quirky title that has a handful of dedicated followers, like yourself. Nothing more.

Yeah, you are wrong about this.

People might not know about the game, but that doesn't mean its not going to have a lasting impression (even if most people never really realise it).

There's a reason the game exists on 6 different platforms and counting, it is a classic videogame. You personally don't have to like it, you don't even have to understand its appeal, but you should be able to see that its more than a 'quirky title'. If it was that it'd just be something that existed on Dreamcast and PS2 that people talked about, its got lasting appeal, in a similar way to something like Pac-Man or Galaga.

People still talk about Pac Man. Even those who no longer, or don't play games. Can't say I've ever heard them discuss "Rez" in the same light. Why? Because chances are they've never heard of it, regardless of how many platforms it's been released on.

So it is you who is wrong, but are insistent on putting Rez on a much grander pedestal because you and a handful of die hard fans like it so much. Rez may have left a lasting impression on you and a few other internet dwelling gamers, but no bugger else.

I like Mad Max a lot, true, but I'm not so deluded as to put it in the same league as GTA in how it will be remembered. Gamers and non-gamers alike will still be discussing GTA years and years from now. Not the Mad Max video game, and certainly not a niche title like Rez.

I'm going to leave it there. If you want to believe folk world wide will still be discussing the "huge impact Rez had on gaming" 20-50 years from now then be my guest.

I think people will be talking about Rez in 20 years time. It doesn't have to have a massive following to be a classic videogame, in the same way that I'm sure there are important films from the first half of the 20th century that most people have never seen, it doesn't mean those films aren't important and aren't talked about today.

But yeah there's not much point in discussing it further, the only proof of who's right will be decades from now.
