Team Teamwork is a Massachusetts-based solo producer who remixes tracks. Perhaps most notable for his excellent videogame themed tracks, he's also been involved with Dude Whatever It's Summer, two annual compilation albums of summertime songs (the 2010 album is definitely recommended) as well as The Good-Ass Remixes, where he takes the raps and beats of hip-hop artists and puts them to the music of alternative and indie tracks. Best of all, it's all free to download on his website!
Childish Gambino - the stage name of actor, screenwriter and stand-up comedian Donald Glover - has slowly been building his discography online by sampling all kinds of indie and alternative tracks, before eventually moving into his own original music, and while his debut label album is on sale, all his back catalogue is still available for nothing - Culdesac and EP are worth a listen (the rest is, in honesty, interesting only to chart his growth as an artist).

Do you really, or are you guilty of having never really tried it? (as I certainly was several years ago) Like all the other major music genres, there are so many different styles of hip-hop that some are so far removed from others it seems crazy to consider them as the same 'kind' of music. If you like some other kind of music then there's probably plenty of that kind of music mixed/crossed with hip-hop somewhere out there. For example:

Some random favorites (in order of heaviness). These all have some good beats so everyone should check them out regardless of whether they like hip hop or not. I mean, I'm not a big fan of the genre but I listen to this stuff regularly.

I don't like MF Doom. He just seems to drone over tracks in his monotone voice. He doesn't ever sound like he's rapping, just... talking. And his rhymes are pretty ridiculous sometimes, it gives off the impression he's trying a wee bit too hard...

I used to like a bit of Hip Hop, haven't really followed it in years. Public Enemy, EPMD, NWA, KRS1, that sort of thing. I really should get back into it.

Roots Manuva is always someone I keep an eye on. Love Percee P's voice, too.
This is a good collaboration between Manuva and Chali 2a - another great voice
Instrumental hip-hop (if you're including that in your discussion range) like El-P, Odd Nosdam, DJ Shadow etc.

I've really been wanting to get into hip-hop of late, but I have no idea where to start. I can't be bothered with hip-hop themed pop, which is what I've been recommended so far.
Dalek is one I've listened to a bit, seems really cool. I'm sure there's people on here who can recommend more stuff like that.
