Aye, I came across this out of nothing through Spotify Radio, different to the Hip-Hop I normally hear but loved it all the same

What I love about Kayne's 'Monster' is that Nicki Minaj wasn't as big back then, but she was on a track with Kanye and Jay-Z and outshines both of them.

Yeah she does that on pretty much every track she guests on for anyone. Pretty much guaranteed that her part is the best.

Ludacris

She's obviously more famous for her more pop music songs (Starships, which is excellent) but her more rap-orientated stuff is great.

Hell, even Super Bass showed off her rap skills really well for a pop song

Also, Jay-Z is absolutely wank on 'Monster'.

I have no idea how he's so highly rated as one of the best of all time. Baffles me. He's got some decent songs, but that's about it.

I remember listening to some Radio 1 show where they were discussing it and apparently it's because his "flow" is so good. :|

I assume they meant because his sense of rhythm is so regular but I don't understand why this is such a great thing...

I think a lot of it is due to his visibility/profile and having the right kind of balance between chart hits and 'authentic' hip-hop songs, plus walking the right kind of line between diplomat and dealer that so many other rappers struggle with i.e. they're either not taken seriously, or they end up in too much trouble.

Plus he's from Brooklyn.

He was one of the best of all time. Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, Blueprint 2 and the Black Album are Hip Hop classics. Sadly he's done a lot of gooseberry fool, and a lot of it very recently.

He's too far up Kanye's arse now.

I've got three of those four albums and other than probably one very good song on each, they are nothing special. I'd easily put Kanye above him no question.

Yeah I think there was a lot of hype surrounding them because they are just horrible little wankers and their lyrical content is so extreme but none of that really matters when the music isn't that good.

I really like Frank Ocean's solo stuff though.
