I don't normally venture into this thread and I'm sure it's been mentioned previously, but Drake's new song Don't Matter to Me is really good.

When I first heard Michael Jackson's voice I got goosebumps.

Sorry, my post comes across like much more of an attack on Preezy than I meant it.

Drake is still bad, though, and I'll never understand the legions of people who buy his stuff.

Yeah Drake is awful. One of the worst things about living in Toronto is everybody worshipping him, and every radio station playing a Drake song every half an hour.

Don’t worry about me. If I like a song, I like a song. I don’t care who the artist is (so long as it isn’t a banana split like Chris Brown), I’m not precious or snobby about gooseberry fool like that.

Drake has talent and too often is looked down upon by those who consider themselves 'real' hip hop fans.

The ghostwriting accusations as far as I’m aware haven’t been proven with any credible source and could be levelled at far more credible rappers, seemingly without having the same reputation damaging effect (e.g. Dre, open secret that Jay Z and others wrote lyrics for 2001).

Drake's essentially a hip hop and rnb crossover so doesn’t exactly go hard but he has a decent back catalogue. A lot of Take Care is strong, and his other albums have smatterings of decent tunes, all very well produced. Something like 0 to 100 has a hell of a sound to it. That album with passionfruit, controlla, etc. is pretty strong. Ditto the one between those two albums.

Admittedly his latest does sound weak on first listen but he only gets the level of hate he does because of how successfully he’s made cross over records.

He's got the neck of a giraffe too

Drake might not be pushing the artistic boundaries of the genre but I'll fight anyman who doesn't think Controlla is a catchy record.
