Genuinely excited for it to start, and I rarely do excitement.

In other news, My Dressup Darling is having a short hiatus before the next chapter :(

Seems it's so the author can work on a couple of other projects including an art book in which case... :datass:

Ruri Dragon 9

Sporty mama being equal parts smug and wholesome is the absolute best. Still no idea how she got pregnant by what seems like a giant-ass mythical dragon in the first place.

Witch Watch 147-148

It was nice seeing those previous enemies turning a new leaf and being teased to potentially join the cast in the future.

Oh god, you can predict what was going to happen the moment she introduced that comic but still. :slol:

You and I Are Polar Opposites 51

Flustered Nishi is so stinking cute. Yamada wanting to circle back for the merry-go-round... what a dork. :shifty:

I do love the "turned into something ridiculous" chapters

Woah Skip and Loafer is so lovely and so funny and often so well observed.

The last episode was fantastic!

Really brilliant season -- hope they do a second.

For me the combat episodes were just a little bit less my cup of tea (some cool animation though!), but all of the more 'wandering around talking to people' style episodes were absolutely 10/10.

I had mixed thoughts about that last episode! I really felt like by making half the surviving competitors first-class mages, they devalued the concept of what they'd all been working towards in the first place. There was no reason for the last woman (edit: Methode, I had to look her name up) to make it, not unless they've got some grand story arc for her in the wings. But the bits afterwards with, as you say, the walk-and-talk were your typical lovely Frieren - and the note it ended on.

A slightly different beast. But I'm four episodes in, and I might find it easier to enjoy now that it's not competing with Frieren for my affections.

RuriDragon 11

Was nice having this back as a weekly series but the time has come for it to switch over to fortnightly Jump+ release.

I love that the first thing Ruri does is accidentally poke holes in her warm vest with her horns... in the middle of the rainy season.

Everyone continues to be so chill about this wackiness and I am here for it.

My Hero Academia 418

I was dreading AfO being involved in Shigaraki getting his decay quirk as a child. There was a time when things were pointing towards him legitimately caring about his protégé but nope gotta just be comically evil in the rush towards ending the series and cheapen all that previous character development.

Witch Watch 150

Oh my god, how adorable is it that Nemu stretches like a cat in her human form too? And that Kaguya-style back-and-forth tsundere shtick. Definitely best girl now.

Oh no, why'd she have to go and make the guys so cute too! Grinning like a loon throughout this chapter.

Interesting how Nemu managed to use one of Nico's spells, and yes, the cat stretch was cute.

Ban still best girl though

Really needs an anime adaptation.

Watched I'm in Love with the Villainess. It was cute!

Also watched the first season of The Witch from Mercury. I enjoyed it, it's clearly very well put together. Not sure I'm up for the second season though. I watched the first few episodes and ran out of willpower -- I can only take so many robot fights and political schemes and mental breakdowns. I started to feel a bit exhausted. Maybe I'll return to it one day. Chuchu is the best character!

Reading Shangri-la Frontier after watching the first season of the anime, it's really good and gets the feel of gaming spot on.

I just now wish 'full dive VR' was a real thing, actually no, I'd probably spend my whole life on it.

Penciilgon is utterly ruthless and I love it, also Emul/Ellym is brilliant (and cute af)

Oshi no Ko 145

It's always a little mixed when this series leans heavily into the supernatural side but god damn did the little flashback with the crow/Tsukuyomi watching over the two in their previous life hit me square in the FEELS!

And LOL at the memes about this crow being a better parent to Sarina than her actual sad excuse for a mother.

My Hero Academia 419

Great double colour page this week. I've always liked it when Horikoshi put these characters in a fantasy setting - those dragons look amazing! :datass:

My enjoyment was shattered the moment I saw Deku lying on the floor in a bloody puddle sans both arms. :dread: Good thing Eri is more in control of her abilities now, and Deku is always at his best when he's fighting with a destroyed body to overcome the odds.

Jujutsu Kaisen 256

It's always been hard to actually follow what goes on in these battles but it's even worse now we have multiple characters throwing the kitchen sink at Sukuna. Yuji pulling out a point-blank Piercing Blood and Black Flash combo was epic though, our boy is on fire now!

Kagurabachi 28

I'm glad I stuck with this series after those first few chapters nearly bored me to death. Now we have less humour and some actually interesting characters/abilities it's going from strength-to-strength with some very good action sequences that would look lovely animated. The author really needs to stop relying on mid-sequence flashbacks of characters laying out their plans though.

Sakamoto Days 161

I love how Osaragi instantly switches from adorable to bloodthirsty BuzzsawGirl. :datass:

Witch Watch 151

That troublesome little scamp! :slol:

Shangri-la Frontier ch73

Love it when Sunraku plays something different for a while, that Mech game reminds me of Virtua On

Really enjoying this, it's one of the best action mangas I've read for a while.

I seem to have missed the news that Fujimoto's one-shot Look Back was getting the anime movie treatment. It was an excellent read so I have pretty high hopes for this.

gooseberry fool certainly has hit the fan, that final page transformation reminded me a little bit of Reze too.

Someone finally started translating the final (I assume) volume of Onatari Ni Ginga (AKA: A Galaxy Next Door) and I think it will probably wrap things up nicely.

Not my typical choice of manga but I like it.
