The initial D film adaption is on uk Netflix and it was pretty good. I only knew about it because Maf posted drift souls.

I've been told that Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon would be good for her to watch, but they don't seem to be available for streaming anywhere. There are loads of titles on Netflix and Hulu though, could anyone point me towards some others that wouldn't mentally scar her at the moment?

I'm not sure about the UK netflix, but on the Canadian one they have the new Pokemon series, I believe it's XY, it's oretty good and age appropriate.

Other than that, as Karl said a slice of life anime might be good if she likes that sort of thing. I recently watched one with my wife called SilverSpoon which was pretty good...

https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?s ... e&aid=9606

It's also part of noitaminA, a time block dedicated to anime not targeted to the traditional audience of anime, young males...

https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?s ... tb=animetb

So there are a lot of shows there that are targetted towarsa girls, but might still not be appropriate for an 11 year old.

If the opening ep is a recap episode type, then I probably actually will watch it if it gives a flavour of the style the new series will be adopting. I just hope it keeps a mix of art styles as in the first series.

I've been trying to watch more anime but just get lost with so many titles to choose from. One Punch Man was recommended to me though and I have to say that it's, quite literally (yes, actual literally) the best thing ever produced. Ever.

From the frankly strawberry floating OUTSTANDING title music, to the post credits voice over from that episode's Main Baddie, I loved the whole thing. I've have watched it three times now, so news of the second series' impending arrival is :D

My daughter watched it as well and was equally taken with it. She's getting more into anime and manga, but, as ever, trying to find suitable titles for her is a bit tricky.

The Disastrous Life of Saki K should be okay for her. Ditto Little Witch Academia. (Both on Netflix.)

Do you watch them with her? If you aren't averse to streaming via *other means*, then you should be able to watch Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and a load more besides on something like otakustream.tv. You'll be able to introduce her to My Hero Academia on that as well. (It's up there with OPM.)
If you're okay with watching via otakustream, then I also heartily recommend Tonari no Seki-kun/My Neighbour Seki for her. It's freaking hilarious.

I dunno if it's a little too mature for an 11 years old right now (it deals with the consequences of bullying and suicide) but A Silent Voice is also well worth a watch. (Also on Netflix.)

Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:re are best avoided at that age as they contain a lot of death and is mostly about tragedy. Great series, but absolute shitshow of an anime makes it best enjoyed as a manga.

Mob Psycho 100 from the author of One Punch Man is something you'll both likely enjoy. Psychic battles and ghostbusting with a loveable MC, how can you resist?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. My all-time favourite series and although it does contain some death and gore it's censored in the broadcast version and the overall campiness of certain characters makes it very charming. The manga has been running for over 30 years but it finally got a great anime adaptation in 2012 and we're just a couple of months from the beginning of Part V (we're currently on Part VIII in the manga).

Little Witch Academia. I've only watched a couple of episodes but it oozes charm and your daughter is at the perfect age for it.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Utterly hilarious show that lends itself perfectly for a quick blast whenever you have 5 minutes spare due to the episodes originally airing as a short daily skit. Addictive.

Magi: Adventure of Sinbad. Not got around to reading or watching this yet but have heard good things for this age group.

One Piece. Absolute monster of a series with a very unique artstyle, fun for all ages.

My Neighbour Seki. Classroom based hijinks that'll provide many-a-laugh.

My Ordinary Life/Nichijou. Gags, gags everywhere!

Your daughter is about the right age for many shoujo or shounen series, but I'm hesitant to recommend some of them as fan-service bullshit does seem quite pervasive and I'd assume you'd want something with strong female characters not just love interests or damsels in distress.

Do you not need to have seen the original though? I really wanted to watch it but I heard it's a direct follow-on and I didn't want to miss out on details.

This is the only thing I've ever seen from Magi, but it doesn't look appropriate for an 11 year old...

I mean, maybe the Sinbad one is different, but anything where someone kicks directly through someone elses chest is probably not kid friendly.

@NBK

I'd like to recommend Hunter x Hunter (2011) since it's so excellent, but around episode 75ish (out of 140 or so eps) the Chimera Ant arc starts and it's a bit dark. Up until then it's mostly suitable.

Also, not anime but heavily anime inspired: RWBY is something I'd recommend for her. A lot of stylish, well-choreographed dumb fun (up until about volume 4 at least), and it can be pretty funny too (again, up to about the same point). It's not gory, has pretty much no fanservice and has no themes that are too dark. It's all on Youtube.

Hunter X Hunter :dread:

I don't think that's really appropriate given how much killing there is in that.

Why not just Pokemon Indigo League. It's probably where everyone else first encountered anime and kids still know it. It's especially developed for short attention spans and shops don't really stock the toys anymore so you won't have to buy everything.

Thanks for all the replies, folks, lots for me to check out there.

She's been through all the Pokemon series and is just about finished with Yu-Gi-Oh. She had already watched Little Witch Academia (and loved it), so it's good to know I was on the right track.

We do tend to watch them together (or I'll check some episodes out first), so I'll look into the other steaming options as well.

Will report back with progress updates :)

I'm basically going through all the get transported to a parallel world animes. I'm currently watching how not to summon a demon lord, but as that is currently airing, I started and finished the first season of Kono Suba, onto season 2 now, and I think I will try Re: Zero afterwards. Any other suggestions in this genre?

After you've finished Konosuba, try In Another World With My Smartphone. It's a different kind of humour and in some kind of objective sense not as good, but it's fun and you'll like it.

@Rightey

Haven't got around to it myself yet but I hear a lot of praise for Log Horizon.

And it's a bit of a controversial show but I like No Game No Life a lot. Probably my favourite in the genre.

Also, it doesn't exactly fit the description, but Re:Life is pretty good. The main character isn't transported/stuck in another world, but rather another life. They have to re-live school life as a 17-year-old version of themselves. This show's also up there for me but I found the Honoka-Rena arc really boring, and as it's the biggest arc of the first series it drags it down a bit. I still need to see the OVAs.
