The general plot is the same, but the dialogue is completely different. The original was entirely serious, and a lot of the English dub was ad-libbed for laughs.

Apparently the original did very poorly in Japan so when the brought it over to the US to dub it they just kind of said strawberry float it, we'll just make it up as we go along.

It looks like the series is up on crunchy roll...

Watched that first one first thing this morning  It was great.

I only started on MHA s3 because I thought it'd have a similar number of eps as the first 2. Finished ep 13 this morning only to learn that there are another 11 or 12 eps to go! :fp: at self. Will allow a backlog of eps to build up again whilst I start on something else... maybe Mob Psycho 100?

:P Will start in the morning. And will mix it with an ep or 2 of My Neighbour Seki. (Which I do actually love even though I've only seen 8 eps :fp:)

Bakugo growing up a bit is my favourite element of MHA3 so far. (You know, in the sense that he still probably dislikes Deku but it isn't the be all and end all, or I hope it wouldn't be if he'd get more screen time. And yeah, his mum was great.) Oh and ep 13's dorm contest was as hi-larious as the ending was heartbreaking.

I powered through My Neighbour Seki in a couple of days after it was recommended in here. It is a brilliant little series. When you're done with those I'd recommend checking out The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo - season 2 was recently added to Netflix and it's just chock-full of laughs and great characters.

Bakugou's slow-burn development is one of my favourite aspects of My Hero Academia and it seems people who previously despised him are beginning to warm to the lad. I loved the room contest especially Tokoyami getting all flustered about his edginess. "GET OUT!" Tsu-chan is just too pure. :(

I added Disastrous Life a while ago and have enjoyed what I've seen of it so far. I just wish the eps were a little more connected than they are, but yeah, it's good stuff. Do they ever get around to explaining the headgear?

MP100 has started slow but I am enjoying it. I'd *kind of guessed* something unusual was going to happen at the end of ep 2 but it still had me :irllol:

He totally made the right choice!

What I expected: Cute girls playing badminton, cool sports anime tropes
What I got: Depressing show about the harsh realities of trying to become good at a sport. strawberry float I wasn't ready for this.

Almost finished Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, but it feels like I'm barely 1% into the franchise at this point. :dread:

An overarching storyline does begin to appear later on and you do get some multi-part episodes now and then. I found it refreshing when it originally aired as it was a quick 5 minute episode each weekday so you were never without that comedy fix. The headgear and a few other oddities get explained in later episodes.

There are a few moments like that in Mob Psycho but I loved that bit in particular. Definitely the right choice.

So for anyone not yet aware of the original attempt at bringing Sailor Moon to America

We Tried To Uncover The Long-Lost 'American Sailor Moon' And Found Something Incredible
In 1993, before the magical girl anime Sailor Moon was released in the U.S., there was an alternate vision for it. It was an American vision. A total remake of the show with Saturday morning-style animation, intercut with footage of real-life, all-American high school teens.

“Politically correct,” in the words of its creators, the proposed Sailor Moon would star Hispanic, black, Asian, and handicapped Sailor Scouts. The girls rode surfboards that rocketed them into space, to the tune of a bubblegum pop soundtrack.

After speaking with the dead show’s creator, animator, biggest fans, and haters, I think I have finally uncovered the full history of anime’s white whale. It involves a quarter-million-dollar unsuccessful investment, a drugged-up cat, no shortage of corporate intrigue, a Storage Wars-style drama, several eBay bidding wars, and, finally, a dusted-over DigiBeta reel in a retired millionaire’s Florida garage—which brought its own surprises.

One actor for this American Sailor Moon was a cat who played both Luna and Artemis, Sailor Moon’s talking feline guides. Working with cats on-screen is notoriously difficult. “They drugged the cat so much it kept peeing on everything,” Solotoff said.

Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever saw. I remember it aired before school when I was really little, it was awesome, not that any boy would ever admit to watching something like that.

Although, to be fair to the localizers, they did a good job with the series, and have saved us from abominations like this intro...

The intro to this show was supposed to pump you up!

Here in Canada we got this intro

Whereas in the US, for some inexplicable reason they got a different, and in my opinion better intro...

That guitar part :datass:
