Does this mean we're not allowed to get banned from the boards for using racist language as long as its done sarcastically?

So it came down to inference rather than implication. Got to remember to wink when I call someone a strawberry floating black banana split.

What a depressing, yet totally predictable verdict.

I hate that team mate missus cheating, sanchez kneeing, 9/11 celebrating, WC2010 rebellion leading, son of a drug dealer and hand bag stealer, racist naming, CL final full kit wearing celebrating even though banned man.

No I don't actually. I used to. Now I just laugh in disgust.

Absolute joke, an unsurprising one but still a joke of a decision. Ah well over to the FA now, let's see how their panel goes if indeed they actually bother having one.

a bit surprised everyone thinks this is a joke, nobody heard terry swear at ferdinand, even ferdinand didnt hear it and wasnt aware until later that something might have been said. Plus also it was found out that basically ferdinand had been having a dig at Terry in the same match. In all honesty there was no decent proof.

By the way i am not a chelsea fan , actually a spurs fan but also i don't know John Terry so really can't judge him like it seems many of you can without ever meeting him.

Someone did or it would never have got this far and there is the video footage, also there is the fact that he has admitted saying the words just in a sarcastic way. It doesn't matter the Ferdinand had a dig, if Terry had just had a dig back without bringing race into it then none of this would have happened. Regardless it certainly should not have taken this long and five days in court, I don't think anyone thought he was a racist but he did say what he was being accused of saying.

Anyway the FA can still start their own proceedings now so we'll see if they do decide to pursue it or not, after Suarez though you kind of think they have to.

Yeah because 'JT' comes across as such a cracking bloke otherwise.

And if you get banned you can take GR to court to get yourself unbanned.

What a completely despicable banana split. The amount of gooseberry fool he gets away with because he happens to be a footballer is ridiculous.

On the other hand, I'm glad it's all over. I was never convinced Terry was guilty of being racist and I'm satisfied he's proved his innocence. I won't pretend casual racism doesn't exist in football; we all know it does at whatever level, but in this case, given the support he's been given by those acting as character witnesses I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, rather like the Court decided to. At the very worst, he's shown contrition and expressed his abhorrence of racism in a public forum. Now the rest is up to him.

I would imagine that appropriate costs include all of Terrys legal fees - probably a few £100K

This should never have gone to court. Massive waste of public money. The FA cant really contradict this ruling in their investigation. Bringing the game into disrepute? - who was responsible for that? Terry? Ferdinand? The TV cameras?

Maybe Terry should sue the complainant for defamation of character?

The thing is though he still admitted in court he called Ferdinand a strawberry floating Black banana split, surely even if it was 'sarcastic' there's no place for that in the game. He's just hoping someone snaps him in two next season in retaliation.
