Sounds like he is guilty but this should never have gone to court in the first place.

If every similar instance of one line of racist 'abuse' ended up in court the country would fold in on it's knees. I'm not saying that nothing should be done, it just shouldn't require a 5-day court case.

But if it were glossed over, people would think that it's ok to make such remarks. Because it's high-profile, the right thing has to be done.

Terry's going to win this, I think. He's very obviously guilty and his excuse is laughable, but the Crown have done a terrible job of proving it.

I think they have deliberately done a bad job so Terry doesn't get sentenced.

I didn't think he could get sentenced for this. I thought it was a maximum of £2,500 fine.

No, I don't. But I do think that letting accused racism slide in the public eye is not a good move. It shouldn't have come to this court case, but equally it shouldn't have been ignored. Terry should have accepted and apologised so the whole mess could move on, I think. But he hasn't, so here we are.

I think it has been said before but as soon as it became a police matter the FA were unable to do anything until the trial is over.

If he is found not guilty then the FA can't do anything as in the eyes of law, he is innocent.

Not sure what will happen if a "not proven" verdict is handed, if that is allowed in this type of case.

The FA could still surely charge them under their rules whatever the law has said, but they'll use it as opportunity to not do anything if he's found not guilty in my opinion

If he is found not guilty, the FA will do nothing. And rightly so.

If he is found guilty, I hope for a lengthy ban. And rightly so.

I guess they would have followed procedures on how trial dates are booked. The Euros would have been of no concern to them
