Why?

If every similar instance of one line of racist 'abuse' ended up in court the country would fold in on it's knees. I'm not saying that nothing should be done, it just shouldn't require a 5-day court case.

I think that makes you even thicker than JT. Congratulations.

But if it were glossed over, people would think that it's ok to make such remarks. Because it's high-profile, the right thing has to be done.

It's just a bit of banter.

I think they have deliberately done a bad job so Terry doesn't get sentenced.

Er why would they do that?

See two post above you... The entire UK would be prisoned

ie. lots of "he said that, she said this" etc.....

also really the FA should have had balls in the first place and dished out the same treatment and procedure Suarez got.

So you think it's okay to treat 'celebrities' one way and ordinary people another?

This should have been dealt with out of court. And, no, not with a handshake.

I didn't think he could get sentenced for this. I thought it was a maximum of £2,500 fine.

No, I don't. But I do think that letting accused racism slide in the public eye is not a good move. It shouldn't have come to this court case, but equally it shouldn't have been ignored. Terry should have accepted and apologised so the whole mess could move on, I think. But he hasn't, so here we are.

I think it has been said before but as soon as it became a police matter the FA were unable to do anything until the trial is over.

If he is found not guilty then the FA can't do anything as in the eyes of law, he is innocent.

Not sure what will happen if a "not proven" verdict is handed, if that is allowed in this type of case.

Isn't not proven a Scotland only thing?

The FA could still surely charge them under their rules whatever the law has said, but they'll use it as opportunity to not do anything if he's found not guilty in my opinion

Ah yes it is, my bad.

But if not guilty is the case, FA wouldn't do anything even if they think he is guilty of it as they allowed him to go to the euros.

I don't understand why it wasn't held before the euros as its only a five day court proceeds. :fp:

If he is found not guilty, the FA will do nothing. And rightly so.

If he is found guilty, I hope for a lengthy ban. And rightly so.

BBC Sport's Richard Conway at Westminster Magistrates' court: "While the trial is drawing to a close, Terry does have the right to appeal to Crown Court if he is found guilty.

"An FA disciplinary investigation into the alleged racist incident at Loftus Road last October will likely continue, regardless of what verdict is delivered today, after being put on hold for 10 months due to the police and court process."

I guess they would have followed procedures on how trial dates are booked. The Euros would have been of no concern to them
