They should have just called it "A Brit Abroad". Because that's exactly what it is.

He's simply reacting in a more exaggerated manner to that of most people. Some of the stuff he says is absurd, but a considerable amount was simply observational humour.

You have to know his past and what he has been like for the past 10 years to really get why so many people find it hilarious.

And the title derives from the fact it's what Ricky and Steve have called Karl for years, based on his crackpot ideas.

Yeah, I haven't listened to any of their previous podcasts, so don't really know the backstory behind this one. Just from watching the programme, it's coming across like if they sent a comedian on holiday to ever increasingly bizarre places, who keeps coming out with pretty witty - and in the same breath, ludicrous - statements about things going on around him.

I mean his reactions to some of China's food isn't exactly out of the norm. I bet Ricky Gervais would have reacted in exactly the same way.

I loved it :D

And KK, I think that Ricky Gervais would have been far worse. He's notoriously squeamish. Merchant wouldn't have minded, but he'd probably have the locals doing impressions of Frankenstein and laughing at him again.

I have the first ep recorded on Sky+ but not sure if I'll enjoy it. I think I find Pilkington funniest when Gervais and Merchant are there laughing and telling him how bonkers he is. Yeah the stuff comes out with sometimes is just *out there* and funny in its own right, but I love the reactions/bewilderment of the other two. I hope my fears are proven wrong and I end up enjoying the series.

There's small doses of the reactions when Karl is on the phone to Ricky at various points.

But that's also the thing.

Karl Pilkington isn't a comedian. He was Ricky and Steve's producer at XFM where he became loved by listeners with his crazy comments.

Just watched Idiot Abroad Episode 1 -

Quality stuff  Not a fan of Ricky Gervais, but this show is brilliant.

Especially loved when he asked if he had to eat the Goldfish

And removed now. :x

Sky are dicks. I looked through Sky Anytime and to my delight I saw this there with the "Last Chance" next to it. Clicked to watch it and it's all like "lol you have to upgrade to Sky HD to watch this you n00b". Why have the SkyOne HD version there and not regular D version. :x

strawberry float you Sky Anytime. strawberry float you Sky. banana splits. :x

Couldn't stop laughing, the show was hilarious. A lot of the places he went to, I visited aswell so it was quite strange seeing him wander around places I had been.

Really can't wait for the next one, this series is golden.

In anticipation for tonight, let's get warmed up with some classic KP material.

The animation isn't up to much but the actual conversation is priceless.

I thought this week's wasn't as good as the last episode.

I think that may be down to the fact that he obviously hated pretty much every second of his time in India and was far too miserable or ill to muse on things.

The only time he looked remotedly happy was with the old "Saint" in the Ganges.
