Isn't that a Welsh thing? I don't think I've heard it anywhere else.

Isn't it Ironic how just as I was reading this thread, my cousin said to me over msn "ill chat 2 u 2moz, safe"

To which I replied "night"

That said, in a normal situation if someone says safe to me (and does the fist thing) I'll normally do the same to avoid awkwardness.

General banter and shouting with friends on XBL has made me start using "merked" (and also "shanked" in COD4).

I say safe sometimes, along with blud, bruv, bar, boy, bey, fam, sound, hold tight, cuz etc..

Merked is a good one, shank aswell, anything you'd hear in a grime tune, or dancehall.

It's the only way to get served in my local chicken and chip shop, if you don't say boss they don't see you.

:fp:

I just nod and say no bother, confuses them for long enough to make my escape.

I started using 'Cheers' while working at Argos for a while. It was apparently too girly to say 'Thankyou'.

You guys know Tepan Yaki restaurants? You know the ones where you sit around a table with a hot plate and a chef prepares your food at the table. Well, one night I had the pleasure to share a table with 3 English couples no less, and after dinner went out with two of them (two couples that is) for drinks.

One of the couples were a man and a woman that were about to get married. Every time the man would say something, he would get their attention by saying "Oi". Which the woman absolutely hated. The more he drank, the more often he would say "Oi" and she would respond all the time saying things like "Enough with the Oi!"

It was very amusing.
