Breath of the Wild.

It's an alright game but I can't stand the durability system, which leads to me actively avoiding all combat because it's just not worth it.

Had to finish levelling and gearing some jobs in FFXIV so went to do that, then I went on holiday, then FFXV and Dark Souls DLC came out, and I've still got to go back and do Nier and Nioh etc

Might be a little while before jumping back to Zelda.

Battlefield 1
Can't connect to any game type and not interested enough to redownload. Dice should have this stuff sussed by now.

FIFA 17
An utter shambles. In need off a complete overhaul.

Both uninstalled and I now don't have any reasons to keep EA access.

Excite Truck - just too boring after the first few events.

The Last Remnant - I really liked this, and invested a lot of time into it, but I don't have the patience for it. There's a point I've reached where you have to defeat 6 bases, which essentially amounts to 10-15 minutes of battling soliders/troops, and then a really difficult boss fight. Do this 6 times and you can progres with the game - yay. Problem is, the boss fights a lot of the time come down to luck (in terms of which moves they execute, which special moves you get, etc) as well as them and their support units being really overpowered, i.e. one move can completely wipe you out. You can't grind either as they level up with you. And you can't save between the 10-15 minute troop battle and the boss fight, meaning if you fail you have to do it all over again. If I could just repeat the boss battles instantly it wouldn't be as bad, but I just can't be arsed with the endless repetition of the fighting needed to get there. They know they strawberry floated up as well because in the PC version (which came later) you can save between the initial battle and the boss. Shame as it was a good game until that point.

Space Hulk Ascension (PC)

Bought this as part of the recent Humble Bundle for $1 so I'm not going to complain too much. I'm not sure if you need to know what you are getting into before buying this or if they've just done a piss poor job at explaining it, but coupled with some other issues, I've had to give up on this. It didn't get off to a good start when I struggled with one or two of the tutorials not clearly understanding what needed to be done. Once I got past those and onto the campaign, it was Ok for the first 2 or 3 missions. But then, progress just stopped. Even when turning the difficulty down to easy I still couldn't get by. I think I'm missing something quite crucial in the game as I'm struggling to understand what I can do differently on the missions I can't progress - because of the board game nature, a lot of the battles seem to take place in a single corridor which means it is not possible to have two of your team fight side by side and also very difficult to switch places due to limited room to move your team around (which you really need to do as your guns can jam and you can also run out of ammo, which for the latter basically makes your team member dead weight or perhaps a sacrificial piece to buy other team members an extra move to escape).

The game is also very dark which causes a problem with the "map". As far as I can see there is no actual map, you just zoom out of the play area to see the surrounding area. This wouldn't be too much of a problem but because of the overall darkness, you then have to zoom back in again in different areas to see where doors are and whether you can actually go through a corridor or whether there is a wall somewhere along it. The final problem I had is that sometimes, the marker that is supposed to show a key point (like exit to the level which is the main objective), simply didn't show.

Maybe if I stumble across a 5 minute guide on the internet (and discover a proper map that can be enabled), perhaps I'll return to this as I think if I could actually play it, it would be quite enjoyable.

Legend of Kay Anniversary - PS4

I got this through the playstation humble bundle so consider a bonus from a charitable donation rather than anything i'm invested in, so maybe that says something.

I don't see a reason for this to exist outside Nordic flexing the IP catalogue they bought from THQ to see if anything sticks or nostalgia. Its a competent but uninspiring mascot action platformer with bad voice acting and unruly camera which came out as such games were going out of style. I don't remember this from back in the day at all and would rather go back to Beyond Good And Evil or Ratchett and Clank instead.

I'm really enjoying Tales from the Borderlands ao thought i'd give the main games another crack but i just can't do it - i find my attention just slipping off them after less than an hour, regardless of how good stuff like the tiny tina dlc is supposed to be. This is something i'm noticing more and more, especially with fps or open world action games; i think its a case of having played similar enough games over time to the point that i don't find the mechanics interesting enough to support the nuggets of story here and there.

One game series I do not get the love for. The first one isn't that great and the second one turns into an almighty grind at the end.

I like Borderlands. I don't think it's amazing or anything, but playing it with a friend was enjoyable enough.

I've started borderlands a few times, it's alright but I always run out of interest a couple of hours in. A mate of mine loves the things and has played though tonnes of times.

Uncharted 4 - I loved the first three, played each shortly after release and couldn't put them down until the end. For whatever reason this just hasn't quite grabbed me, I was enjoying it but just not gripped by it at any point. I think I'm around half way through, was just doing the 'At Sea' mission but felt absolutely no desire to go back to it since and every time the opportunity comes up I've ended up playing through something else instead. I'm sure I'll go back to it eventually but might be as well off starting again at this rate.

Bioshock infinite. I just can't get passed the bit with songbird and the floating ship things. Don't know what I'm doing wrong so just gave in.

Just do a quick web search, I don't think that is far from the end. You can do this!

I may very well have had to look this up. I do this a lot in games, it isn't my fault that there is some BS design that requires me to spend hours trying stuff out. How much strawberry floating time do these people think we have?

Yes?

That's not near the end that IS the end, finish that part and its the end of the game, you're missing out on something special, took me 4 goes last night but did it. The trick is to save Songbird for the ships and use skyhook to get behind the guys who jump on board your ship, they'll face you instead of the thing you're protecting. If folk get near it then use songbird on them.

Recently I bought Deus Ex Mankind divided as it was on sale, I liked it but got to a part on the first level in which I messed up my stealth and its just turns into a shitfest. I'll play it again but didn't enjoy it forcing stealth on me.

Zelda Breath of the Wild on Wii U. I played it for an hour and then gave up...It all seemed a bit too much.

I think the main reason was I just completed a play through of Twilight Princess before I started had too much of Zelda.

I'm not in the mood to start BotW again now, but will do so this winter.

I feel like you can definitely shoot your way through most everything in that game

Max Payne 3 - PC

I bought this years ago and for some reason it didn't work, now it does and I'm just not that into it - maybe I'm getting old but a grim and gritty modern day tale of kidnapping, extortion, betrayal and graphically shooting people in the face just does nothing for me. I definitely preferred MP2 with its quasi-supernatural elements, analogous TV shows running in the background and the general new york noir style to it.

Prey.

Did not like anything about this at all. Dull story, dull setting, dull gameplay and truly awful, generation-worst combat. I mean that last one, I have not played a AAA game this gen with combat this tedious or unrewarding. A massive disappointment.

I think it was the R* patented "10 minute cutscene-2 minute gameplay" style that I bounced off of with this. They were so, so desperate to tell a gritty, realist story that they forgot to actually make any gameplay segment longer than 3 minutes.
