I thought I'd give it a try even after abandoning the first one; misguided I know, but I believed I may enjoy it more as it was actually designed for the current generation. I didn't find the combat fun at all, I appreciate it's meant to be a stealth game, but it's arguable that a first person view isn't suitable for such a game. I think the peripheral site offered by a third person view makes games in the genre far more enjoyable and when it does go wrong taking on multiple enemies is a pain in the arse. I appreciate that I wasn't very good at the game, but it didn't offer me any incentive at all to want to get good. A real shame, as I know it's very well regarded, but it will be getting traded ASAP.

It's a funny one but actually gets better the further into it you get, it's at it's best when you unlock the better powers. It really does have a great level design with multiple routes and options but even as a big fan of the first game I found this one took longer to get into.

I found the non killing run less fun than the stealth assassin route. Killing undetected is more fun than knocking people out and sneaking around avoiding enemies. Emily's domino power is so much fun and really useful.

Thanks, I suppose I could give it another try, but as I said, I found the combat to clunky and kept getting spotted as I thought I was hidden, bit wasn't, hmm. I've put it on Gumtree, do I take it off......?

Go for it - most people on gumtree are morons, scammers or just can't be arsed so I doubt you'll be putting anyone's back out.

I've actually sold quite a bit on there, but yes, it has its fair share of the above.

D2 is much harsher than the first when it comes to the NPC awareness. I struggled hard with the first few levels. But yeah, once you get to the Jindosh level it really opens up, and is a fantastic game.

Life is Strange, didn't grab me in the first episode at all. Started the second episode but turned it off about 15 minutes in.

I also gave up on Tales from the Borderlands after the first episode - I think I might be done with this genre for a while.

Sniper Elite 4 - A solid game, just one lacking in general variety. (In terms of gameplay and abilities the player can call upon.)

Pro-tip: Just gain some elevation and you'll be fine. It's almost laughable at times - as long as you are just a teeny bit above an enemy in both Dishonored games they will pretty much never see you.

Most recent game I've given up on was Dark Souls 3. I think I'm fairly far into it, and it was enjoyable - but I've just been side tracked by so many other games that I'm not sure I'll ever actually get back to it now.

Suikoden 2. Put 17 hours in, paused, and thought to myself "I'm really not actually enjoying this am I?". Turned it off and have not felt compelled to resume it since. That was a week ago.

Felt like to much equipping and unequipping, and the vast majority of the characters had very little story to them (unsurprising given there is 108 of them).

I'm kinda angry with myself for feeling his way as it's so highly revered, but I think I have put enough time in to know how I feel about the game.

Elite Dangerous. What started as a grand experience soon gave way to a chore. I did re-install the game some time later to see if I could get back into it, but after an hour was bored out of my mind.

Resi 7. Amazing opening, great middle game, rather tedious last what I'm assuming will be third (once you get to the ship). I'll knock it off at some point as the first half made me want that much, but it really should have ended once youleft the house.

This.

Might be a great simulator. But it feels tedious and cumbersome. Don't think it's a good game.

I actually prefer NMS. Far more pick up and play.

Monochrome - PC

Inside or Limbo are just better at the whole '2d puzzle platformer in a drab world with mostly visual storytelling' thing in every way.

Human Fall Flat - PC

More frustrating than entertaining almost from the get-go, too much 'lol aren't physics so random/funny!'

I need to stop buying bundles from Bundlestars; hopefully the others i haven't tried from the latest one will be better. At least i can sell the cards for a minor kickback.

I'm not looking forward to starting Mafia 3 now too :(

EDIT:

Jotun - PC

I thought this would be a nicely-drawn ARPG-like adventure but turned out to be another boss rush game like Titan Souls - a sub-genre I have little patience for and would rather save my efforts in that regard for Bloodborne and Nioh.

DOUBLE EDIT:

Gigantic - PC

Barely started this and it pissed me off - even though its on steam it insists on installing PW's Arc launcher which gave me no end of grief with Star Trek Online. It brings up an error message that won't go away about the overlay not working, won't go into fullscreen beyond 1360x768 and to me it has the same cluttered and messy visuals as battleborne, giving me absolutely no incentive to try and fix these problems or play it at all.

IN-EDIT EDIT:

Apparently the steam/arc version doesn't support cross platform with xbone, so might try the w10 store version instead, which i imagine will be just as awful :dread:

DANGEROUS TRIPLE-EDIT:

Dragon Age Origins - PC

Even with the UI mods this is impossible to play on a tv as the text is so miniscule in a lot of places. Also I think i'm getting old; the thought of managing a party of characters in terms of skills, gear, combat positioning etc does not fill me with enthusiasm, far from it. I have realised I have a low tolerance for big fantasy rpgs now and would rather use that for the Witcher 2 and 3.

That's a huge shame as Dragon Age Origins is genuinely fantastic on PC.
The ability to play it as an almost RTS game with overhead camera and stopping time makes it almost the perfect RPG and the quests are actually not total gooseberry fool which is a rarity in the RPG world of fetch quests and busy work.
It's the best Dragon Age game by bloody miles and I completed it twice on my old PC and would happily do so again if it still lived as the tactical aspect was a real treat with having spells and fighters in a overhead view. Nothing really beats making people fall over in a grease spell only to set them on fire with a fireball and then have a tank kick the gooseberry fool out of them for good measure.

Seriously, an amazing game and one I will always recommend.

I think the problem is that for the time such games take i'd rather A) play real D&D or another RPG which is collaborative and more open or B) read/listen to a good fantasy novel which tells a similar kind of story with more depth and less backtracking. I'm not sure I could handle DA Inquisition for the same reasons. I'm sure i've said this before, but when looking at such big games i see the potential time investment needed more than whatever world/story its trying to create.

Middle Earth - Shadow of Mordor

I really wanted to enjoy this game because I love Middle Earth, but I am just not. The story is unengaging, the endless brown scenery is just so dreary and the orc voices are irritating. Moreover, I am getting utterly sick of spending ages clearing out orc camps to leave the way clear to kill the captains, only to get killed and find the camp has filled up again when I go back. And if I am rubbish at a game, I don't want it to punish me even more by becoming harder if I die. I am now in the position of having one area of the map where there are three high-level captains - how am I ever going to clear that if they all come running when I attack one of them?!
