2x09- When Evie left Meg the way she did in the flashback I speculated that she'd run away from Jardin instead of departing but that ending got me good. Praise Lindelof.

Yeah that ending was cracking, fully expected a bomb or something, but now I'm thinking the girls may top themselves on that bridge in front of everyone.

Yeah Guilty Remnant leaders saying Meg was trying to get plastique explosive makes me think she's going to have the girls wear suicide bomb vests.

Shame next week is probably going to be the last one ever.

The timing is a bit unfortunate considering how recent the Paris attacks were but these days, we're never too far away from something like that.

Ratings matter less for HBO than other channels but ratings are really bad. Lindelof said in an interview he hasn't even had talks with HBO about a possible season 3 which doesn't bode well.

I had a look earlier, less than a million viewers an episode :dread:

RIP in peace. Hopefully Lindelof can bag a double length episode to wrap it up it.

strawberry float sake.

Another great episode. Be a real shame if we don't get a third season.

2x10- Loved it. Much like season 1's finale I think it works as a possible last episode ever so I would be reasonably satisfied if that is the end. I want more episodes though. I really really want more episodes. :(

It was impossible not to wince at the scene with the baby on the bridge. :dread: That was so uncomfortable to watch.

"You're home."
The karaoke.

Why are the cast so good in this show?

From The AV Club's review:
Nobody is watching The Leftovers. Like, seriously nobody is watching it. “International Assassin” was beaten in its time slot by an episode of Law And Order: SVU. Not a first-run episode, not a sweeps-month crossover with Chicago [Insert Municipal Service], just a regular old repeat on USA, perhaps an episode where Olivia and Munch have to pose as a married couple to infiltrate a dog-fighting ring or some gooseberry fool.

:(

Damon Lindelof needs to keep working in TV. It's where he excels.

Without reading any of this thread for fear of being spoiled, is this really good, then? I've heard that the first season is kinda average but season 2 has been fantastic, is that about the sum of it?

It might be the next show I binge watch.

After hearing lots of good things I finally started watching this.

First three episodes have sold me on it already. I expected to hate the 'mystery that won't get answered' part of it but actually that works well. With none of the characters knowing what happened either, how they deal with not knowing is what creates the drama. Plus there are already lots of smaller mysteries to keep that part of me interested (dog killers/creepy cults/missing bagels)

The last episode I watched (ep3) was superb, similar to and almost as good as 'Walkabout' from Lost (also ep3). I'm liking the general structure and slow pacing Devoting the whole episode 3 to a character that we'd hardly even seen in the first two episodes was a nice bold move. The flashback in that episode to the opening scene of ep1 really caught me by surprise, as did the GR buying the church at the end, although I should have seen that one coming.

Nice, it only gets better.

An absolutely riveting end to Season 2 and a fantastic season overall. Strong contender for best TV show of 2015.

You never know with HBO, they've often gone against ratings. Then again, Deadwood.

If it does end up being the last we seen, I think it works quite well as a series finale.

I wouldn't say season 1 was average but it didn't really click with me until a few episodes in. I think the episode centered around Christopher Ecclestone is what got me on board. Season 2 was great from the start.

1x03 is Christopher Ecclestone's yeah? Leftovers is extremely character-focused, the other stuff sometimes made me feel like it was weirdness just for the sake of weirdness but the show and the cast makes it work. Carrie Coons is amazing.

Great Finale, such a shame this is going to get canned.

I found the first season really depressing, but I couldn't stop watching and the finale stayed with me for a while. Love the way the tone changes for S2 and as mentioned, that finale could serve as a final final episode and work.

strawberry floating piano tune gets me in the feels every time :(

Anyone else think it would have been cool if the song used in the karaoke was the theme tune for season 2? Would explain away the strawberry floating dreadful tune and give it some purpose at least :dread:
