I'm far from the only fan of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series and I wondered if anyone else had been keeping up with the newest iteration, The Legend of Korra? It follows on 60 years later from the original series and picks up with the new Avatar, Korra having already mastered Fire, Water and Earth and needing to learn Airbending from the son of the last Avatar, Tenzin.

The new series takes place in one big city as opposed to the whole world and is has more of an early 20th century shanghai feel with motor cars and industry taking over. Central to the new plot is a villain called Amon who has started an x-men-style anti-bender revolt and a 'do we need the old spiritual ways with all our new technology' vibe.

It's easily watched online if you know where to look :shifty: and worth watching if you liked the original. The fight scenes so far have been pretty incredible.

Excited.

Finished watching the first series and

Was a huge WTF moment with Korra losing their bending, but then getting her airbending. And also Tarrlok killing Amon and himself in a murder-suicide

Can't wait for Series two.

Finale to this was pretty disappointing. She shouldn't have got her powers back right away. Leave that for next season, have her go on a globetrotting quest to unblock her bending. Find some spirits or something to help her. Would have done her good to feel powerless for a while, learn some humility.

And of course she just had to fall for the dullest guy alive.

Cameron basically stole the name Avatar, and we want it back!

Nah! I remember reading an issue of Starburst in the late 90's about Cameron trying to make Avatar but holding off until technology "caught up with his vision" or some such pish. Cameron has basically been sitting on Avatar well before titanic was made.
Anyway I thought Korra was good but not as good as TLA. I put that down to having a shorter episode run on the series thus making the story seem rushed.

I hear that back then he was still calling it Spacohauntis.
