BALLADEER CONTROVERSY HOUR
I think there is actually a wrong way to play, certainly on your first run. That is: ignoring the extraneous stuff, making your way straight from Beast to Beast, then heading straight for Ganon. That is, taking no time out to appreciate or explore the world, do the side-quests (especially the memories), or any of that gubbins.
The game won’t tell you off for that, but I feel that such a very impatient approach is actually the wrong way to play, for the simple reason that the people I know who are more likely to take that approach seem to have less fun.

Other games give the player the option to pick the weapons they want to use and play in any style they like. I don't understand how you can't see that having the weapon degradation system fly's in the face of player choice as you are forced to change weapons, saying you can do what you want within the confines of the games mechanics is true of every game.
Hime wrote:As for the combat options being so diverse, in Assassin's Creed Odyssey you can snipe enemies, open animal cages, sneak in and take everyone out, poison people to turn them against your enemies, ride in horse back like a maniac, set fire to people, etc. There's more combat options I can't remember and loads of other games with just as many so I'm not sure what games you're playing that Zelda's options of ranged weapon, melee weapon, item and the occasional environment option make it seem head and shoulders above other third person action games.

Hime wrote:Then you have the fact that the 'objectives you can tackle in any order' are four iterative, simplistic mini puzzles with pretty uninspired boss battles. That's ignoring the fact that they are mostly devoid of the Zelda hallmarks and are arguably the worst dungeons of the series. Obviously you can say the game is about enjoying the world and systems which is fine but it makes the point of being able to do the four main missions in any order a moot point if they're considered an arbitrary experience.

Is it an actual dungeon this time or another glorified shrine?
