...I thought the ending was alright...

(Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t blow my mind. But for some reason, a small personal ending worked after all that SCALE and SUBSTANCE. Can definitely see why others would loathe it though.)

I don't mean that so harshly. Crap for me is equivalent to meh. The gigantic boss is cool but like every boss in the game and more recent zelda games it lacks any challenge. So it doesn't really match the scale of the game.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I would have liked to see the game world post Ganon, it always bugs me in open world games when you cant see the world after the story is complete and instead you have to go back to a checkpoint before the boss. I know theres a story reason why this would get rid of enemies or whatever but Id still like to see the world after the big bad is gone, I dont have to see it rebuilt fully or anything but some small changes to reflect the end of the bad times would be nice.

Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door did that. Another reason why it's one of the best games ever.

Hey remember in Link's Awakening when you beat the final boss and could finally explore the island at peace and talk to all the friends you had made

I think it's doable to play in small chunks. Not necessarily all the time - you'll still want some longer sessions thrown in as well, but I think the game will suck you in in that respect anyway.

What I would say is, make sure you use the map functions well - this will reduce the amount of 'where the strawberry float was I?' time you spend. You can leave coded map pins when you find things you want to go back to later - come up with a system and use them liberally. As an example, one of them is a little rupee symbol and I use it to mark every time I find valuable rocks that need breaking.

Started this properly today. Just finished the last shrine to get the paraglider (I hope). Is there a correct way to make it to the shrine in the cold mountain area? I just lit a torch and ran for it. Were you meant to get the warm clothes off the old boi by making his recipe?

You can do that yea. Whether you want to call it the 'proper' way or not is up to you.

If you got to his but afterwards I believe he leaves the tunic for you

There is no ‘correct way’. BotW is chuffing amazing, and that’s part of it.

Do enemies not drop rupees any more? Made it to Hateno and I've still only got 2 rupees from selling something to buy a carrot.

There are some enemies that do, but yeah, just pick up everything. Non-weapon slots are unlimited, so pick up everything and sell what you don't need.

Thanks guys! I've already been trying to pick up as much as I can, so I'll flog everything and see if I can buy something to keep me warm. Just found my first memory! Zelda has a weird voice.

Is there a way of viewing your camera photos in fullscreen without the weird filter the game applies? Shame the game doesn't save the images you take directly to the SD card.

I thought Skyward Sword was punishing with the damage, but I've just found a Lizalfos that one-hit kills me with some stupid overpowered bow :dread: Is that a sign that I'm going the wrong way or is this going to happen a lot? It's weird having hearts but then having armour stats that affects how many hearts attacks take off you.

BOTW is way tougher than Skyward Sword for sure. You should be able to avoid getting one shot though once you've got some hearts and armour

It can happen, you'll start to come across groups that are way too powerful for you. I really like that though as it keeps you on your toes for one thing, but also you can choose to tackle them and use the game mechanics to best them, like pushing things on them etc.

Meant to say I finally got around to beating this (no DLC), what a game it was
