I need a new box of Kleenex. I haven't stopped crying with delight since I saw this.

I'm pretty disappointed, truth be told. I'm getting more than a little sick of Nintendo using the Ocarina engine (albeit tweaked), this is the third generation using the same engine and it's getting stale.

I'm well aware I'm in the minority that'll think this way but I can't help but think the faith in Nintendo is a little misplaced on this one.

What the strawberry float is wrong with you, Ocarina of Time Engine.

All you've seen is a strawberry floating demo

It's pretty clear from what's shown that it's not using a new engine, that the setup is almost identical. I'm just getting bored of it, I was expecting far more especially with the M+ involved.

It showed some sword fighting and a few weapons, I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm glad you're not a game designer.

I don't think the fairly familiar forest environment the demo mainly showed did it any favours, to be honest, and I look forward to seeing more of what it has to offer. I mean, primarily, all they've really revealed about the game is the name, the visual style (which, incidently, I think is attractive, but nothing spectacular), a couple of new weapons and the control scheme. There's so much more to see of it, so I'm not writing it off by any means just yet, despite being admittedly a little underwhelmed by it.

I was hoping for some interesting conversation but instead I'm treated to yet another display of blind defence of Nintendo's major franchises, despite me only offering my take on the whole thing. At least I know not to bother from now on, it's not worth it.

Some info from the Miyamoto Q&A roundtable liveblog I'm following:
He apologizes that a glitch on stage this morning was wireless interference, and a majority of people in the audience who have played the game agree.

Miyamoto said that the goal of Skyward Sword is to get back to basics and focus on what makes them really fun.

He said that gameplay on Skyward Sword is almost complete, and the graphics are being polished.

He said they need to make a few more dungeons but it's mostly complete.

He said the scene this morning showing Link diving off a cliff into a bank of clouds was meant to be "impactful" because it was an important event in the story.

In this Zelda, Link is a little boy born into a land above the clouds called Skyloft. One day, he learns there is a land below the clouds ruled by evil forces. However, the revelation prompts a series of events which forces him to go to the land beneath the clouds.

The reason he goes down is in the title--it's the Skyward Sword. The sword possesses intelligence, and will assume the semi-human form in the teaser poster shown last year.

The Skyward Sword will become the Master Sword, apparently.

Miyamoto said he's a big fan of Impressionist Art, so the new art style reflects that. He said Cezanne was a big influence.

He said they also want to change the typical structure of Zelda games with Skyward Sword.

He apologizes for the long time it took to change out of iron boots going through the Water Temple (in OoT) He says the 3DS version will make this process much easier.

He said the Wii MotionPlus will have a new pointing system that will make the Wii Remote be used like a three-dimensional mouse.

The HUD in the game is also just for E3, and they're still working on the best way to handle the HUD in the final game.

Will Zelda have orchestral music and/or voice acting? We can't do what we did in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and not move forward and do the same thing in Zelda. We have people on staff looking forward to getting to work on that.

Much of the staff of Spirit Tracks is working on Skyward Sword.

Orchestrated sound track for this would make the game for me. Wind Waker in MIDI was still excellent - orchestrated would be awesome.

They've orchestrated two Mario games now, so I can't see how they could justify not giving Zelda the same treatment. Other M, or at least part of it, appears to be orchestrated too.

With the resources behind a company like Nintendo you might hope these things were a given, especially with such lucrative franchises, even if some of the instalments might not sell as well as they would like (wasn't Twilight Princess a bit of an under-seller?)

Cheers Maf, some of that sounds quality. Very good to hear about the soundtrack, not sure about voices, also interesting to hear the graphics aren't completley sorted yet.

I'm always a bit wary when people say back to basics though.
