Sometimes it feels like I am playing a mario or luigi game! It's brilliant though and feels fresh, perhaps not as much as Wind Waker did originally. The art style is definately good, but it really would benefit from being in HD!

I think that's the worst case of padding you'll come across. Other times, when you have to revisit an area, it's either to find the entrance to a new, unexplored area or the area has been altered drastically.

I think of this particular case of a way to establish the Water Dragon's character: she enjoys putting you to work whenever you want something from her.

All in all, Link is such an easy-going character in this game: at the very beginning he gets bossed around by Zelda to do his Loftwing training, gets bullied by Groose and friends (hiding the Loftwing was particularly nasty) but that doesn't stop him from working together with Groose later on. And the water dragon is quite a character... Still Link never gets angry, never loses his patience... Admirable.

Good job, I think we both know that he is in for a treat. :)

Maybe you should go into the Cawlin's room at night after giving the letter to the ghost...

Also: It is my understanding that you only get one set of gratitude crystals either from the ghost or from Pipit/Karane.

If you give it to the ghost then I think you get the gratitude crystals from it and the Pipit/Karane story should stop. Likewise if you give the letter to the Karane then you get the crystals from her instead and the ghost stops appearing in the bathroom even though you didn't give it the letter.

The same thing happens later on: you either tell the item check girl you love her or push her away and appease her father. Either way, 5 crystals are yours

Well there you go, thanks for clearing that up.

I got the Hylian shield after my 4-5th go at the Thunder Dragon's challenge!

The second to last boss was Koloktos and I started it with 1/2 a heart left. It took my 15 minutes of patiently waiting for him to knock down the pillars but it was totally worth it.

Reread his post carefully, and you may be shocked and ashamed to discover that you, in fact, are the ninny!

Some amazing cutscenes in this game.

The Hylian shield is definitely worth getting but I wonder if they should have made more of acquiring it because of how strongly it's tied to this game and going back to play any other Zelda is just going to remind you of SS when you use it.

Also, finally finished this on Sunday.

Did anyone else think it felt kinda...small? I mean, it didn't take any less time than any other Zelda, but I dunno. It felt more intimate, I suppose, would be the flipside to it, so I felt I knew Skyloft a hell of a lot more intimately than I did, say, TP's Hyrule, but it lacked the epic feel of OoT.

Still was awesome though, possibly my third favourite Zelda.

It felt small because there are just 3 areas in the game plus Skyloft.

Well, yes.

I know what it lacked; a Kakariko Village type place. Somewhere discrete, and separate and fun and interesting. The Lumpy Pumpkin just wasn't enough.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Not enough dungeon downtime.

I'm getting this vibe at the moment. Too many dungeon-esque areas and not enough village areas. I was enjoying this a great deal earlier in the game, but now... I don't know. It just doesn't sit right.

The whole game just isn't believable as a world, especially not an 'early' Hyrule. There's no suggesting of population anywhere but all around are built intricate structures, each more 'mythical' than the last? Where are the plain old in-between places?

I think I'm going cold on it TBH, every other Zelda has had me rushing back, wanting to keep playing and moving the game forward, but this one feels like a chore. I'm about to enter the pirate's lair by the way

Ive just done the bit where you go back in time and see zelda and she powers up you sword. Is there much left? Becasue im starting to lose motivation in playing on. I think ive just got the last "dungeon" to play. Its strange because in TP and one of the DS games, having played nicely through the entire game i lost motivation right at the end to play the final dungeon too :? .

You've still got several dungeons/revisits to go.

Just finished it in a bit under 60 hours(including all sidequests). I agree that there's not enough Dungeon downtime, but I still think it's my second favourite 3D Zelda, and probably my 3rd overall. I greatly enjoyed Ghirahim calling himself a weapon  Think I'd really struggle to beat those last 2 bosses in Hero Mode. Demise particularly. Biggest problem with the game was having to almost constantly re-centre the Wii Remote, but I really enjoyed the plot, and the characters (on the whole Ghirahim was a great enemy, as was Demise, and Groose was just an amazing companion  ) although Fi turned out to be an even more frustrating version of Navi. Stop. Spelling. Everything. Out.

As much as I enjoyed it, I won't be playing through on Hero mode for quite some time. Too many other games I haven't even started yet.

I've got to the first dungeon and I really don't care for it so far. Too easy, way too much hand holding and the controls are just awful. So far I think it's on track to being the worst 3D zelda game yet. Yes, I am serious.

I think it's the worst 3D Zelda. Shame because it has the best story/characters, with the possible exception of MM

I did wonder a few weeks ago whether the fact EDGE have given every new proper Mario and Zelda a 10 in the last few years is because they might be all rudderless' reviews. or some might, or one might, or he's infected other journalists with jolly Nintendo enthusiasm, or it's all conspiracy and it's in journalists interests to convince themselves and everyone else that what new big games are being released are really something great when they're clearly not.

Hello! Had to return to respond to this. I've read some nonsense from you in my time, arv, but this takes the biscuit. I'd be offended if it wasn't so laughable.

Perhaps these games got 10/10 because they are extremely well-crafted and those who wrote the reviews thought they warranted top marks? Just a thought.

Hello too! I think it's worth mentioning that I am completely dead inside and don't enjoy anything anymore, even when I do I don't. A game can't just be a succession of things to do anymore for me. It's too aware that it's a game being made for an audience, it's not fascinated with itself, it's not over reaching, it doesn't provoke interest in me. I've not played it in months. I left it at the scorpion boss. I want to want to play it. I want to want to talk to that character stood over there. Videogames have never been more unsure of themselves, in the past they had an energy where it felt like anything was possible. It's like a fire that if it goes out, it makes me feel like, what's the point. It doesn't feel like it exists to inspire, I don't care to see what's on that island, or through that locked door, because it's like the game already knows. It's not interesting. As a videogame in 2012, it's not interesting. But, but, it has some good dungeons and some good puzzles and the wavey controls are neat. But, but, it has lots of stuff in it, and the colour pallette is nice, and lots of words. But, it has a boss that just stands there and fights me. It's nicely designed and animated, but playing Limbo was like playing something from the future where videogames have an inherent intelligence. I don't want to go back to the year 2012. I'm in 2035 crying myself to sleep feeling the weight and buzzingness on top of me.

A reviewer is not thinking like this. They're not thinking, life is pointless, games are pointless, I want to die, I want to live as a spirit and spend each day observing a different person. They're more pragmatic. I don't know what my point is.

Maybe my point is, ..no. I thought I had it then.

I've read some nonsense from you in my time, arv,

This is a lie. Truth and honesty wrapped up in nonsense. I don't eat biscuits.

I keep coming back to

Perhaps these games got 10/10 because they are extremely well-crafted and those who wrote the reviews thought they warranted top marks? Just a thought.

but it's impenetrable. It's 2:47 am but I have to give a reply i think. I think it's the words extremely well-crafted. Maybe that's the problem. So extremely well crafted they've lost their creative spirit. Playing games can feel like a formality.

I actually thought skyward sword was quite nice in places, it was quite pleasant. It's nice. I do like zeldas. But 10 God. 10 is 'this is so far beyond what we previously thought of what videogames could be'.
