The ending sequence is so good isn’t it.

Grinning like a bastard all the way through.

I loved it when link finally spoke, looked at the camera and said, "it's triforcin' time!" :datass:

Yeah it's hard not to have a huge smile on your face, such a superb ending after spending goodness knows how many hours exploring Hyrule.

I personally loved it in the last fight where Link jumped down and said,

Got to mention just how great the graphics have been. This is a handheld system! It looked stunning at times, really pretty art style.

Yeah it really does, while this isn't cutting edge compared to a lot of first party games released on the other consoles, for the tech they have its amazing how good it looks and performs (for the most part, still had the odd stutter), still love cresting a hill or mountain, or even in the sky now, when the sun is rising or setting and you can just soak in the sun, or the blood moon  If it does get a Switch 2 patch, they could just patch it to run at 1080p at 60fps with a few of the graphical effects turned up to the max and it'd probably look like a decent improvement on an already very good looking game.

The thing is, at no point during my 165 hours of playing did I wish it was 60fps, or 4K, or ray traced or anything. I just really enjoyed the adventure and loved the art style for what it was.

Graphical fidelity is a complete con. Quick loading and a pleasing art style will do me.

Got all the bubbulfrogs!

If you're looking for all the caves, you'd do well to remember that there are four of them on Great Sky Island. :fp:

My penultimate bubbulfrog was there. The last one was a bit sneaky too - it was in the Pristine Sanctum in Zora's Domain.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I dunno, while I agree about 4k and ray tracing I'd have loved 60fps, that makes the world of difference

Anyone else still playing this? I took a little time away while on holiday, and then a hectic period at work, but around that have been maintaining a fairly steady 'hour-or-so' most evenings.

Still main-story-phobic, I only just started the fifth sage quest last night :slol:.

It’s a great game to just spend an evening exploring the map and finding secrets, I finished it but I left a few Side Quests/Adventures left to go back and do over Christmas this year

Yep I'm still playing a couple of hours a week. I think I'm at the point where I could go and start the endgame when I'm ready, but I'm happy still pottering about filling out the depths and doing the odd sidequest here and there.

Same here, pretty sure could go to the end now, but just exploring and doing sidequests. Haven't played it much since my house move though, so must get back into it properly again.

Question about the final boss.....

BotW "gimmick" was that you are supposedly given the agency to take on Ganon directly after leaving the Great Plateu if you wished. But you as you play the your arsenal/health/stamina becomes stronger and you have an increasingly greater chance of defeating Ganon the more you play. Was TotK going for a similar thing?

First of all was we meant to know that the final boss fight takes place under Hyrule Castle? Because I didn't until I was told, haha - but it's kind of obvious once you are told

In BotW defeating the divine beasts was more integral because not only do they give you useful "powers" but had you not defeated them before the Ganon fight I understand you would have to defeat them in as part of the Ganon fight was there any such incentive to free the sages in TotK. I wonder if I could have taken Ganondolf without the sages they seemingly don't help much in the fight nor getting there?

I know it's about the journey - but it does feel in BotW you "need" to play the build up but TotK feels like a lot of the gameplay before the boss fight isn't "necessary" particularly the freeing of most of the sages. I spent 90 hours in game before I took on Ganondolf but I'm not sure this was necessary not that I'm complaining!

Loved the ending and path getting there - unlike dungeons other than being told it's under the castle - you're not really given a clue of where to go [I think?] - it properly feels like a place that exists (rather than a puzzley dungeon) and you are truly exploring as you navigate deeper and wonder if you're going the right way then it's very cool when you stumble onto the battle. The dragon stuff was epic and cinematic

It did however take me like 20hours over several playtimes to beat the Ganondolf :fp: :fp: :fp: :fp: :fp: :fp: I did very little exploring of the underground stuff BEFORE beating the game - literally the minimum requirements of the main story - I had loads of heart replenshing meals, all of which were useless because I didn't have gloom resistance so basically took Ganondolf on (after arriving from the multi-enermy fight before) with 5 hearts I know I could have just left and rectified this situation which would have saved a lot of time. I did the fight again properly prepared with all the gloom stuff and beat him first go or so.

I don't think it's supposed to be certain straight away, but you can jump down there at any time and find out. I had a peek quite early because Zelda says you're in the foundations of Hyrule Castle in the game's opening, so I was like, shouldn't I look for her down there first?. But if you don't, I think it's the Yiga quest that tells you (is that right?), so you can get told what's going on a fair way before the end depending on the order you do things.

I'm not sure where you're getting the idea the final fight in TOTK doesn't change...! If you don't do the sage side-quests, that cutscene where the sages show up and repel the boss monsters (where they say something like "we've beat them before, we can do it again!") doesn't play and instead you have to fight all the bosses one after the other, which is similar to how you fight the blights before Ganon in BOTW.

Iirc, halfway through the fight you have to fight ganondorf and 4 phantom ganondorfs, at which point the sages come in to fight each one. I would imagine that doesn't occur as well.

Also yeah everything in the opening cutscene is under hyrule castle. Ganondorf is under hyrule castle.

Only played this once since the beginning of September for some reason, really need to get back into it. From memory I've barely done any of the main story and have clocked 60 hours, this will probably take me 150 hours minimum to complete

I loved this game during my play time with it (165 hours), but looking back on it a few months on I don't have many fond memories of it; not when I compare it to other recent(ish) titles I loved (Witcher 3, CP2077, GoW Ragnarock, RDR 2). I guess it's because the story in TotK is far less front and centre.
