Normal and Master mode are kept separate though and he didn't realise the game was set to Master mode, thus it looked like his saves were gone.

Got this with my Switch nearly two weeks a go and not played anything else since (bar MK and Overcooked). What a fantastic time-sink, my profile is telling me I've played for 20 hours or more already which other than FFXV I haven't done in probably years.

Done one Divine Beast so far at Zoras Domain, superb stuff - I take it you don't have to be a particular level of strength (i.e hearts) to do them? Any recommendations to do these first or memories?

Only just scratched the surface which is mental, determined to eventually first my first Zelda (had about 5 of them  ).

Yeah you can do any beast at any point. I can't say there’s a ‘best’ order to go through the Divine Beasts as the path you take through the world is a huge part of the experience in my opinion, just letting your interest in the terrain guide you to your next objective is pretty awesome for an adventure game like this.

That said, there’s a quality-of-life ability you get for the north west Divine Beast which will make it the first Beast I go to in subsequent play throughs.

Zora's Domain is a great choice for your first Beast. Another great choice is the one in the north-west. They can legitimately be done in any order, but the other two are maybe a bit of a step up in difficulty.

Cheers guys, glad I got the full Zora kit as well much prefer the swimming with it and looks awesome. I'm just opening up the map as I go along based on stuff I spot in the distance anyway, I'll continue as I am then. So good 8-)

I think my most preferred order is Zora, NW, then ignore the other two because they give you powers I actually preferred not having

You can turn powers off individually if you want to, just toggle off the item for that power in your inventory.

Of the other two, I like the 'offence' power but I straight up turned the 'defence' power off.

I think they could have handled the powers slightly better to be honest. The cooldowns could have been more intuitive, and the defensive one in particular should have required you to actually do something to activate it.

I would have gone for a magic meter system, maybe.

Ah yeah, good point! I knew this but never did it for some reason

Agree with this, a magic meter would have been a nice Zelda inclusion too. Even if it recharged so mechanically behaved very similarly to the power cooldowns (just being a shared resource between them instead) I think it would have made more sense in-universe and felt more intuitive.

Finally beat my first Beast!

Thanks for the tips, guys. I was avoiding going back to it as I took such a pasting last time. This time it was very close, took several attempts, but finally it's done!

More exploring for a bit now.

There's rumours that some sort of GOTY edition is coming out on November 23rd so that could be the release date of DLC 2.

The Zelda special edition set can be seen on Polygon. (Game, book, map.) Sorry, no link, not sure how you do that on iPad.... November 24th release.

Good spot, still!

Hmmn... it's cool for new Switch owners, although it doesn't appear to contain the DLC and the guide seems to be a cut-down version - in terms of pages - compared to Prima's guide.

The power you get from the NW beast is definitely useful - there was a point in one of the other beasts that I still don't know how you are actually supposed to do without that power. I quite like that it lets you find your own solutions in somemof these instances though, makes it feel more like your own experience than simply doing what the designers wanted you to!

You are always doing what the designers wanted you to do. Nintendo can read minds, except anyone who wants F-Zero or Metroid, they are immune so dw ok

Oh I'm sure they're aware of most of the ways that people will experiment, however this definitely wasn't the intended "correct" solution I can tell you that much!

Basically I spammed the Revali's Gale power to get in to somewhere that I should have got to through other means, but hey it worked so who am I to complain! :D

I did a lot of whack stuff in shrines that I'd be interested to know if it was the intended way, sadly that was so common in the game I often forgot what my solution was by the time I had moved onto the next one.

I did some really weird stuff in the electric shrines for example, I think I made a circuit by lining up a load of dropped weapons at one point

(btw I'm kidding about designers being god, Aunoma mentioned in that video in above link that they are continually surprised by people's strategies.)

Plus there is probably a lot of replay value trying to "sequence break" and go up against much tougher foes early on with the most rudimentary weapons. The bosses in particular were really easy for me including Ganon.

God I am so in love with this strawberry floating game.

I'm at that point that you find in most open world type games - where the scale and scope of the task ahead is kinda realised, but still huge. Like, at the start you've got no idea how much of the game is ahead, or how big the map is, or basically how much is left to do. And then obviously there's the point where you're on the wind down to the climax. I'm just at that point where I've uncovered enough to gauge 'right, so I'm about X amount of the way towards the end (I reckon I'm somewhere between a 5th and a quarter of the way done, having taken down one of the dungeons).
