No, your house is a side quest in the original game. You don’t need dlc for it.

80+ hours 99 shines, 97 seeds later

Still side quests to go back to and there is a large area that looks blank which I must go and double check. Sad it’s over, loved this world and will write up a review once I’ve had time to reflect.

I don’t think the DLC is essential but it’s a good enough excuse to return to the world so I would recommend leaving it a few months and then getting it.

I've just completed the second DLC and if you want a new dungeon plus 16 new shrines, and would be willing to pay £17 odd to get that, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd recommend holding off. The other DLC is a set of escalating challenge rooms, which I had a go of but don't think I have the patience to go all the way through, as well as some quality of life and bonus additions that now you've finished the game, probably won't add much value for you. If you eventually plan to replay the game though, I'd recommend waiting until that time to get it, especially considering the master mode inclusion.

I'll be heading into Hyrule Castle and probably completing the game tomorrow. Haven't been this glued to a game since MGSV came out.

I'm guessing he did all these things you didn't

I'm at 65 hours and still have 1 Beast, only got 47 shrines, 40 Korok seeds and have 1 memory to go. Keep reading about things like the Dragons and all the cool armour had no idea about so will easily bust the 100 hour mark.

May try and do everything bar all seeds.

The sidequests. Getting all of the outfits (including the amiibo ones) has taken a lot of time. I simply love wandering the world in the ocarina of time outfit! I still have a few of the main side quests to do as well as the trials for DLC 1, but have lost the motivation on this one now. I will finish it eventually.

At 80 hours I’d be a little surprised if you found all the mini games (without using a guide). There’s easily 150 hours worth of stuff between the main game and DLC. If you want to collect all the outfits, beat all the dungeons, do the Master trials (which are well worth it on Normal difficulty), and collect all the place names on the map then 200 hours without a guide seems pretty standard. Filling the encyclopaedia, getting the boss medals and collecting all Korok Seeds using a guide pushes that closer to 300.

I’ve heard several people say you’re not supposed to collect all the Korok Seeds, which is true on a casual playthrough. However having so many provides a fun excuse to keep playing if you love the game and want an excuse to keep adventuring.


Love reading people coming to the game for the first time and seeing them talk about their adventure and how much they’re enjoying it.

Joseph Anderson’s longform breakdown of the game is well worth a watch for a pretty hard edged view of it. I don’t agree with some of it, but it’s a great perspective if you can sit through it all. I think his breakdown of the Shrines is absolute nonsense and ludicrously harsh, however the way he talks about the combat raises a lot of valid points.

Oh ive definitely got a lot more to do I recon, but probably another 20 hours at best

Out of curiosity I looked up a map of all the shrines and was shocked by the sheer number of them...

Truly rewards exploration this game...
