Instead you got probably the best game world ever designed.

That's the reason this game is better than just about any other you'd care to mention. The whole world shows the care, attention and design flourishes that in other games (like OOT for example) are concentrated in relatively small areas.

Is it the best game ever made? Surely a subjective matter that people will disagree on. No one can argue it isn't one of the best games ever made though.

Yeah I would have liked some proper dungeons, there's a progression you get in them that shrines/beasts just don't match

Ha ha! :toot:

I think it's just "Zelda-fatigue". I've completed Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D and Twilight Princess HD in the last 2 years...

I started Breath of the Wild on Wii U, but simply couldn't face it!

Oh well, I'm quite happy saving the game for a year or 2...!

I do think BOTW is one of the best games ever made BTW, I just think some people haven't experienced anything like it before when there are comparable worlds that have been done before, although being old they certainly aren't as polished as BOTW's.

What I wouldn't give for BOTW to have some proper shrines like little ruins to explore that had cool stuff in. The one in BOTW at the end of a canyon looked like it was going to be just that, I got goosebumps when I saw it, I thought, "YES HERE WE GO THERE ARE THINGS LIKE THIS IN IT  " only to find a cool looking entrance leading to a long room with a load of guardians and a bog standard shrine at the end :|

I loved the ones hidden in the snowy mountains where you had to roll a snowball big enough to smash the door down, wish there were more things like that in it.

And some Dungeons ;)

Honestly I would have much preferred it to have been smaller with the more "bespoke" sections being better and the repetitive parts cut down.

Helps that they lasted more then 5 mins and would give you something that changed what you could do after.

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying, there aren't comparable worlds exactly because they have never been anywhere near this polished.

And it isn't just polish as everything works. Its detailed design work that isn't in any of those other games. That's what makes the world in BotW better than any other.

You see for me, its all one big bespoke world, there aren't any repetitive parts and it all hangs together as well as the tiny things you want back. I don't even see it as a trade off, the world is like the best and biggest Zelda dungeon ever made.

So, on a quest to find memory locations and ancient spare parts - I sauntered over to the castle environs. I ended up getting them and the Hylian Shield. 8-) 8-)  :toot: :toot:

Didn't take on the Boss as i've only done 50 shrines o far and still have one divine beast to go but it was interesting to mooch around.

Out of interest - could you actually beat Ganon without doing the beasts?

Yup, you can beat him at any time you like. Once you have the Great Plateau completed you can just head on over and take him down.

It'd be pretty hard to do it with 3 hearts and no armour though! Still, that's what speedrunners are doing.

The biggest issue would be weapons I'd imagine. You'd have to collect all the Royal weapons on the way but I'm not even sure you'd have enough weapon space for the amount of damage you'd need to do to a full strength Ganon. Some Korok upgrades are probably needed first but I haven't seen any of the speed runs.

Watching a speed run of this makes me sad. How dare you rush past all of this beautiful scenery and wonderfully crafted interaction!

Have many people here started a second game? I'll be waiting for both DLC packs to drop before I do. I still have quite a bit to finish off in my original game, although I won't be bothering with the Korok seeds.

Yeah I thought you'd at least need the master sword but I watched the fastest speed run and the guy just picks up a load of royal weapons in the castle.
Loved the way he took some shortcuts, chopping down a tree, statising it and then blowing it up to fly miles

going to hold off until I get a switch and do a second run through. Being done with this has broken me for other games, Im looking through my massive Steam Backlog and nothing measures up, I think Ill have to take a bit of a break before I feel like playing something new.

I've done 3 Divine Beasts and 52 Shrines so far and just at Gerudo Town now to get cracking on the last one, would love to know how much time I've put into it but playing it via Cemu on PC so no way of checking as far as I know. Easily the best Zelda game I've played, looks lovely and even though the combat can be a bit repetitive it hasn't stopped my enjoyment. Horizon Zero Dawn, Mass Effect Andromeda and Prey have all been put on hiatus due to wanting to switch to something else newer at the time but thats something that hasn't happened once in all the hours I've played this. Hell it gets to the point where I can't wait to get home and turn my PC on just to play some more. Definitely will be getting it with a Switch at some point along with the new Mario.

Need to look at the speed runs.

I've clocked 100 hours now. never done that before on a single game (single player). 51 shrines 70 koroks and 3 divine beasts. Going to get another 10-15 shrines and the last divine beast then head to the castle.

So, with only 51 Koroks and 60 Shrines Ganon is no more. What a strawberry floating game though. Loved it. Will play more too.
