I think there is a difference too between "things to do" and "things to complete". 100 missions clearing caves is "things to complete", whereas respawning enemies that you can kill while traveling or food to collect is just "things to do".

It's always difficult to assess "how much there is do to" in a game. I was addicted to the huge collect-it-up exercise in Mad Max, and enthralled by the exploration in No Man's Sky, but other folk could - and did - find them to be a massive yawn-fest. Equally, I usually get bored by fighting games within minutes but, for fans of the genre, there is a raft of in-depth strategy and techniques to discover.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally I'm keen to see a large open-world Zelda game and I'd like to wander around expansive plains. Sure, there would need to be challenging activities and stuff, but I class searching and discovery as fun, too.

I just want a world that feels 'living' I want NPC's going about their business, I want to see random NPC's wandering around in the fields/woods. I want easter eggs and secrets in every nook and cranny

I just want multiple towns. I don't like Zeldas with only one 'hub' of friendly NPCs. I loved Skyward Sword, but hated that Skylofts was the only real hub (that stupid cafe doesn't count). OoT had Castle Town and Kakariko village. Link's Awakening had Mabe village and Animal Village (and loads of little extras).

Extra little places that make it feel like an actual world rather than just a map for dungeons and one location to buy potions.

Exactly, you have your major town with NPCs but after that the whole world is empty except for enemies. Have your main castle town of Hyrule but have multiple other villages dotted about the map that you can visit and interact with.

I'd argue that Link's Awakening doesn't have any hub. Majora's Mask, Skyward Sword and Minish Cap are probably the Zelda games with the most obvious hubs, being places you return to repeatedly between sections of the game. But yes, I am very much hoping for many characters and friendly locations to find all around the world.

Strong rumours -

Zelda: Breath of the Wild to miss Nintendo Switch launch

That's a blow.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo's biggest Switch game, will not be available when the console launches in March.

That's according to a new report which details the game's current state of development, and which tallies with information provided to Eurogamer by sources close to Nintendo.

Last night, reliable Nintendo tipster Emily Rogers detailed the game's localisation schedule, which will now continue through until the end of 2016. "Four-to-six months of testing will follow" before the game launches.

Eurogamer had separately been told of the same schedule, as Nintendo is committed to launching the game in as close to perfect a state as possible after so long in development.

The Switch can't afford to launch with a whimper -- there has to be a Mario or a Zelda there on the first day. If they can't get Zelda out on time then that Mario they showed in the trailer had better be finished.

Agreed. Surely there's no reason we couldn't have a handful of decent sized towns, all with unique stories & events.

I don't care if this is delayed tbh, I'd rather they spent as long as they need to get it right. Surely if it's releasing on Wii U it can't be that far away?

If this game is like the original you'll see a handful of people and that's your lot.

Nintendo have confirmed that a new 'exclusive look' at BotW will be present at this years Game Awards!

Wonder if it will be footage of the Switch version?

If Zelda doesn't arrive at launch then they would do well to remaster all the 3D Mario's and do an All Stars 2 at launch. Otherwise I'll wait for Zelda and hope there is a price drop in between. That also leaves time for the launch gremlins to be fixed and any rumours of a remodel to help me spend wisely. I felt a bit cheated with the 3DS, the XL and then the new 3DS as each iteration felt more significant than previous generations.

The XL was pretty much inevitable after the DSi XL. I would have picked up a 3DS after the first price drop, when you could get the console for a lower price and still claim the ambassador games, but I decided to wait for the XL.

Kind of feel the same as a new zelda only comes around every 5-6 years and this one looks special.

Anyone with a wii u getting this on the old machine or on a switch?

Will the switch really be more powerful than a wii u?
