Although I think you'll find that the original GameBoy was a "Compact Video Game System", so clearly not a console!

I didn't even realise that had been rereleased. It's hard to argue against Nintendo's practice of releasing old games on new hardware when you see the figures.

It sold 8.66m on GC and Wii (1.4m and 7.26m). I can’t seem to find data from Nintendo on the Wii U version which I think means it sold less than 1m as they report on all 1m+ selling games in their investor briefings.

MK8 has sold more on Switch than it did on Wii U. Must have made them huge profit considering how low development costs would have been to port, add a few characters and a battle mode.
