Truly rewards exploration this game...

I loved finding them, just a shame that so many of them are boring to actually play.

I've drifted from this again, after going to the xbone I really can't get on with the game pad it just feel huge.

Probably need to become not poor and get a switch if I want to finish this but I don't think that will be any time soon sadly.

Being the ELITE SWITCH PLAYER that I am, I've managed to hit the 10 hour mark on this.

Touch me 8-)

I've come across a couple of shrines that I couldn't be bothered to complete so have left them for later, and I'm enjoying just exploring the different landscapes and avoiding the big enemies that still wipe me out in 1 hit. I think the bomb spamming is a bit borked in this, I cleared an enemy camp in a valley by just endlessly lobbing bombs into it and the enemy didn't really do much to avoid them, showed the weakness in the AI a bit. Still fun, mind.

Bomb spamming is effective but I avoided it because it wasn't that fun

But if you play Master Mode it becomes pretty much useless

I'm doing a Yiga related thing just now, and I'm sure those who have done it will know what I'm talking about. How did this make it into the game? In an otherwise masterpiece, in which you can feel the love and care that has gone into every tiny detail, how the flipping hell did this crap make it into the game? It stands out like such a sore thumb, to the point where it feels like Nintendo subcontracted it to another developer then just assumed they'd done a good job. It's madness.

If it's the bit I'm thinking about I just used bomb arrows and fought my way out.

Didn't quite finish it as intended yet, ended up spending another 5-10 hours clearing shrines and upgrading my armour. I saved just as I entered the Hyrule Castle area and was greeted by this glorious theme.

What a prelude to the denouement. :datass:

If it's the bit I'm thinking of don't most Zelda's have a gooseberry fool bit like that. Stealth kills are your friend but don't be afraid to just fight your way out.

Is that the hideout? I did it first try, all it took was a bit of patience.

I quite liked it

It's super easy to stealth through so there is no problem

100+ hours, all memories, all 120 shrines, 63 side quests, 177 Korok seeds and the Champion's Ballad later, I've completed my first 3D Zelda. :toot: Thoroughly enjoyed the journey, when you contrast how feeble you are at the beginning compared to the end, it feels like you've been on a true adventure. That I did most of it on a handheld is just icing on the cake. I'll need to keep an eye out for a good deal on Ocarina of Time for the 3DS, then work my way through the other games.

My path leading up to the final battle.

One thing I don't like with this is the lightning storms. They look and sound great, but it's annoying to have to sit under shelter for real-life minutes waiting for the storms to pass. Is there any way I can avoid getting struck by lightning? Is it me having metal gear (solid)? Lame.

Only if it's equipped.

Yeah, you need to remove your metal equipment. You can get a lightning proof helm later on and there's a electricity resistant armour set, but I can't remember if the latter stops you actually getting struck.

It doesn't stop you getting struck, but it stops you taking any damage from it. It's actually pretty great to have a metal weapon equipped if you're in a fight in a lightning storm, you keep getting struck which just damages all the enemies around you B)

It didn't realise it was useful in that way.

But yeah just unequip metal items, it makes sense. Ancient items are not effected.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Any item from your inventory that has a lightning flash symbol on it during a storm will need to be unequipped.

I spent ages thinking you had to actually drop the items (because y'know that would actually make sense) rather than just having to unequip them - the number of times I got pissed off because my awesome shield or sword was lost from being struck by lightning! :x

Like others I didn't have too much problem with the Yiga stuff - stealth is pretty straightforward in this. That said it certainly wasn't one of my favourite parts of the game.

Thanks all for your advice. Makes the storms a bit more bearable, although the arbitrary "it's raining now so you can't climb anything" rule continues to grate.

I also played it in docked mode for about 15 minutes before work this morning and I couldn't get used to having it on a big screen, far more enjoyable to play in handheld, I feel. Or maybe I just needed to play for longer? We'll see.

Find and upgrade the climbing gear as priority, live a more full and better life
