I am not going to complain, I was going to load from a save and go back, but I thought let's do this. MY GOD AT THAT FIGHT. THAT WAS SO DAMNED COOL! :D

Possibly one of the most epic Ganon fights ever.

I stumbled across Ganon by accident too. Unfortunately I got absolutely hammered!!

I thought it was one of the worst

All the bosses in BOTW were pretty bad imo, one of the only bad things in the game.

One of the last things I was doing when playing via Cemu was collecting the Phantom Armour. So when I got my hands on the paraglider playing it on the Switch, knowing where the pieces were hidden, with all my 4 hearts and Switch t-shirt I made that my first mission. Dodging Guardians and that bloody Lynel in the Coliseum Ruins was tough but I managed to avoid getting in to fights. Now I'm all Phantom'd up its time to concentrate on unlocking all the towers.

I got all four beasts, so it started off epicly for me. Then I thought the fight was cool anyway.

All divine beasts done. Last one was the fire one. Very enjoyable puzzles but the boss was very simple.

Aso found all towers and a new village too.

Going to do some side quests and see where that takes me.

It's such a huge world to explore. The big empty spaces make the exciting moments of discovery so much better. Every single part of the landscape feels purposely designed to entertain and pull the player in. I'm even getting used to the breakable weapons and have tons of good weapons to carry around now.

Easily the most enjoyable game world I've ever explored.

So close to being done with this game. The two Divine Beasts that I've freed have been the worst boss fights and dungeons in any of the 3D Zelda's to date.

This game gets away with so much bad design that other games would get torn to shreds over.

I decided to have a try at Ganon, got about half way through the castle and legged it. Got some very good weapons though so was worth the trip.

I do wish there was fishing within the game. As I loved that in Ocarina of Time. The hunting in Botw is fun though. Fire arrows and instant lunch never gets old.

As much as some parts of this game annoy the gooseberry fool out of me, I just cannot stop playing it whenever I get the time.

I think the Divine Beasts are fairly weak if you take them as standalone entities and compare them to Temples in the other games. But if you think of them as big, special Shrines - in the context of the game having a hundred or more of them - I think it's a lot easier to understand what Nintendo were trying to achieve with them. I think BOTW has great puzzling and some very good combat moments, but it's just not presented in a comparable dungeon format.

Im torn about the whole dungeon thing really, I loved the approach of shrines and making everything optional but I would have loved a couple of meaty dungeons to get stuck into as well. Having the Hylian Shield and Master Sword hidden in dungeons, for example, would have been great, optional but with good rewards at the end. They could have done the same for an armour set or something like that, stuff you dont need but worth going through a dungeon for.

I mean if you go spear fishing with a Fishing Harpoon you can pretend.

I do wish there was a fishing rod of some kind, but I also do like the approach to fishing that ties in with the mechanics in the rest of the game. Dropping bait in water, using bombs, using shock arrows - all are fun to discover.

There is a fishing harpoon? I can drop bait in water?

I've just been jumping in and chasing the buggers.

I've unlocked the dark link outfit, very cool and very useless.

Currently on the back to basics Island, excellent little challenge.

The Fishing Harpoon is a spear. Throw it at fish to kill (as with any weapon). You can find one in Lurelin village I believe.

If you drop ingredients in water it will attract nearby fish. I think different ingredients attract different fish but I never worked it out.

The most effective fishing method is definitely shock arrows though, followed by bombs.

Currently on Eventide Island, already done it before with ease first time but giving me gooseberry fool on the Switch. A few more temples like that would have been good - no weapons, armour or items so scavenge yourself and take on enemies.

-There are no dungeons, the best part of Zelda games and the area that showcases Nintendo's peerless design.
-The two bosses I've faced so far have been very poor.
-The weapon degradation is ridicoulous, most people's solution is to avoid confrontation all together because you might break your level 40 fire sword for some monster bits and a level 8 bat.
-There are puzzles and at least one boss* that require arrows to beat but the game doesn't ensure the player is equipped. Very unZelda like.
-There is a puzzle that requires shooting a fire arrow to light a torch on a moving platform. The game did not tell me that for some reason it didn't like me using stasis on said platform.
-The rain that hinders exploration. It looks nice but adds nothing.

The game is phenomenal and I love the exploration but I'm not sure I'm enjoying it anymore than I do in other open world games. The dungeons and boss fights that usually set these games apart aren't there.

*It is possible to beat the boss without arrows but apparently very difficult.

I agree the bosses aren't the most inventive and the lack of real dungeons is a bit disheartening, but the whole game is like one big dungeon anyway. I had already clocked up around 60 hours on the wii u before getting the switch and am now on over 135 hours on the new console. Its just so addictive and keeps me entertained. I've decided to leave the final fight until i have got all shrines completed as i don't want to miss out on anything.
