Just got all 3 parts of the climbing gear. I'm currently looking for shrines and trying to get everything last one before I take on the big bad.

Don't think I'll ever find all the seeds. But who knows.

I've maxed my anti guardian armour. Now fighting them is a joy, triple tech arrows shot to the eye and it's a one shot kill.

Where do I see my total hours spent in the game?

Wish my image sig would work

Never once in 170 have I really been bothered about my compromised climbing ability in the rain or lack of warmth from snowshoes. There's so many ways to keep warm and so many things to do other than climb when it rains.

I love the dungeons in Zelda but was more than happy with the trade off that this game makes. If you ad up all the puzzle solving elements in this - It equates to more than in any other zelda. To ask for it to deliver the world and experience that it does and then demand a set of more traditional Zelda dungeons on top is just plain greedy.

Lol at gemini.

Hime thinks that 'Rain adds nothing but the hindering of exploration', that is wrong. It might be what he thinks, but its also factually inaccurate.

As is his opinion of the weapon degradation system. The comment that 'most people' avoid fights because of it, is not only not my experience, its also massively arrogant, but no one picks him up for it.

How is that in any way arrogant?

You get picked up because the way you post is completely obnoxious.

Have an ice elemental weapon? Equip it to lower your temperature. Same goes with a fire blade when cold.

Only noticed that during the Trial of the Sword stuff and I've played the game for well over 100 hours.

Its arrogant because you assume that people think what you think.

You might find my posting obnoxious, but that really isn't the point.

It's not arrogant when my statement is based on an opinion that has been expressed numerous times in a variety of places. It's baffling that someone who expresses their own opinion as fact so often would take umbrage with this.

It is the point when you talked about why I wasn't being "called out", the reason you have been is because of the complete lack of decorum in the way you post.

The climbing gear should really negate the weather.

See I just cannot imagine anyone thinking that is a great feature in any other game. Same with the weapon degradation, the fact that so many people say that they just don't bother taking on camps of enemies means there is an issue with the system.

The quality of the map doesn't come close to compensating for the lack of dungeons either, I've seen a lot of empty fields at this point in gaming.

Honestly I think quite a lot could be solved by simply having a smaller map. People start to skip camps of enemies because of a real lack of reward (as well as the outright tedium of seeing the same enemies again and again) but the uncertainty you will get a replacement weapon (or something else thats interesting) makes it worse. The issue isn't that weapons degrade, its providing a reason to actually fight. If your weapon didn't degrade would you still clear the 1,000th camp of Bokoblins? What if some of the camps had a Korok that popped out of the chest? What if in the chest at the end was a key that unlocked a shrine? That way loosing your weapons actually means something.

I do sort of agree on the world map. The empty fields are fine actually, you need this to pace things. But its not really a replacement for dungeons. I loved the GP, and how it forced you to think about how to get about in it. Chopping trees for bridges is a great idea  which feels like an organic solution to a puzzle. But once you get all the runes and the glider you rarely need to get this creative. Most of the barriers become skippable by just climbing and gliding. So it does become all a bit samey. Whereas in dungeons in past games they challenge you with a variety of tools in a variety of ways all across the game. The truly interesting bits of puzzle solving in the world are sadly few and far between. Which wouldn't matter so much to me if the game featured at least one dungeon. The world is amazing though. No doubt.

Also swimming is crap and its quicker to just use Cryonis to keep building blocks to glide from.

This.

Quite a lot of the gear really bugs me tbh. Why do the Snow Boots not keep you warm? Who designs boots for snow that don't keep you warm!?

I didn't mean the empty fields are bad as such, the world is great. It's just not that different to other open world games, the same can't be said for the dungeons in Zelda and the puzzles in other 3D action games.

You are still making an assumption about what 'most people' think, based on limited amounts of information (that the rest of us aren't necessarily privy to). Its not about stating opinion as fact, the issue is assuming that most people share your opinion, not something I'm often accused of.

I wasn't comparing the two of us, I was stating my opinion about your post.

Should be my tenth day since starting BOTW.

Tenth day? Should be pretty soon, Kj!

I've still only payed BotW for "a few minutes" :fp: .

Edit: The timer system was (is) excellent on 3DS, okay on Wii U... and seems pretty ropey on the Switch :? .

Good piece, I enjoyed that. I did read that the game 'fingered your thoughts' which is a turn of phrase I will use in the future.

Something I think the game does perfectly is the sense of urgency. So many open world games have a world ending threat looming yet it's OK for the player to have relationships and sort out petty squabbles. The time exploring in this feels completely natural as it's about Link rediscovering the world, his abilities and forging alliances to take down Ganon.

300+ hours.

So far, so good. I just find it all so very relaxing.

I've promised my kids that I'll finally kick Ganon's arse next weekend. Then it's back to korok hunting and those medal things(?). Hopefully I'll have found all 900 by the time the next dlc pack comes out.

Happy days!

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
