I wish amiibo were easier to pre-order, and easier to just pick-up from a shop. I like the amiibo cards, too - I have quite a few of the Animal Crossing ones.

I really need to get around to starting this game.

I've only played it around an hour...it just seemed so daunting.

My sis started playing this the other day. Within one session she got further then Jawa. Its meant I've picked it up for a few sessions again. Up to 683 Koroks now.

I only thought there were 6 Rumor Mill volumes, I found a seventh.

The more I play this and the more I experiment with what you can do I think I'm coming to realise one of the games failings is how little it explains the combat. There's really quite a lot of depth to it but it never really bothers demonstrating anything to you so most of the time you'll just find yourself wildly swinging a sword as you normal do in Zelda which leads to the endless complaints of weapon degradation.

I don't think I've ever played a game that nails horseback combat to anything like the degree that this does. It really is absolutely fantastic, raiding enemy camps goes from a bit of a sideshow you'll mostly just pass by to one of the most fun things you can doing the game. From the damage buff you get from being on horseback, to the satisfaction of hearing the crack of multiple hits land at once, to running circles around a Hinox or a Guradian swiping away at their limbs to the sheer bloody majesty of charging down a hill to a Moblin on horseback and launching a strawberry floating javelin at its head and watching it being launched into the air as you land a hit plum between the eyes. It really is absolutely bloody brilliant, but the game barely acknowledges its existence. They really should have demonstrated some of this variety with a couple more set pieces like Twilight Princess had. There'd be far fewer complaints about a poxy Soldiers Claymore breaking if it did while you were swinging it from atop your fully decked out horse to land the final blow to a Hinox chopping its bollocks off in the process.

Talking about horses, I spent hours looking for the White Stallion. After sleeping day after day and returning to the spot it should be appearing at I realised I had a big white horse tucked away in the stables.

The same bastard horse I had spent hours looking for :|

The only other horse I have besides him is Epona

Have I mentioned in the last 200 pages how much I love this game.

The all memory ending cutscene has really grown on me since I first saw it

I really can't wait to find out what changes are going to have taken place in the world when the DLC lands. I really hope we see people shifted about. Maybe some builders in and about Castletown, a couple of adventurers trying to scale the walls to the Great Plateau. The Horseback Archery range to be alive and kicking :datass:

I'm honestly not sure what people are bitching about with weapon degradation. There are almost no rare weapons, the master sword recharges and enemies drop weapons constantly. If you actually use even just (infinite) bombs and other sheika skate runes along with arrows (you can easily afford hundreds) hitting the weak spots, I barely ever have issues with a shortage of weapons. If you look for Koroks and get weapon slots you end up with more weapons than you can hold and are literally swapping good weapons for good weapons. There are weapons with durability buffs all over the place, durability up + lasts quite a long time. You are often rewarded with better weapons from tough enemies.

The game resolves many of these issues.

Also if you aren't just spamming into enemies like a twat and using your shields and upgrading armour you can go quite a long time without even healing. If not, play more, get more hearts by completing shrines that require no hearts or even specific items; the sense of progression is there as the world opens up.

Like I've said before if you want the same zelda games again just play twilight princess or wind waked hd

Really? Honestly I can see why some just don't like having every fight become a game of navigating menus that pauses the action. Specially when you have to use a menu that isn't designed well enough once you have a good number of weapons.

Yep. That would have been cool. Instead lets light some torches in a village! :D As long as it isn't raining....... :x

Well that's an exaggeration I can see why people would find it interrupts the flow but maybe I've just mastered the controls. Honestly after you've found some weapons with durability buffs it happens a lot less, thing is nearly all of mine have some kind of buff now and I don't even pick up travellers sword, rusty weapons are really just intended as a gooseberry fool temporary blade etc., I've never seen those as anything else.

I do feel it's a bit easy to like one particular weapon but if you drop that mentality it kind of disappears as a problem. The game also does warn you a few hits before your weapon it going to break.

If you have low durability weapons which generally scales with the hitpoints then you're probably going up against enemies with too much health, that will go down with a lot less hits using stronger and therefore more durable weapons (because each hit makes a difference).

When you consider all these aspects I think the system is OK. It's never really bothered me.

I've run into my first 'dungeon' boss, in the big elephant, and I don't feel like I have a chance. It's so many orders of magnitude harder than anything else I've met, and I don't seem to be able to touch it with anything. It's all a bit demoralising really.

I feel like I'm missing some kind of major gameplay progression mechanic, everyone talks about powerful weapons etc. but I never seem to stumble upon much. I could just wander around picking mushrooms and enjoying the scenery, but I'd quite like to get on now...

Tips are welcome!

Just shoot it with arrows, it won't even get a chance to attack if you have a halfway decent bow.

If you get the bow from the Lynel you got the shock arrows from you'll be golden (although that will be far more of a challenge than the boss!)

Thats all you need to consider.

Are you stunning him? Have you bought and/or upgraded armour? Tried using the alternative arrows? Attack buff potions?

The shock arrows guy was way too tough for me!

The arrows I fire don't reach the boss, as soon as I get close enough he smashes me.

I get the feeling I've got too far and missed something way back. I'm pretty sure I saw some plate armour but can't remember where.

Also, the guy that you give Kurok seeds to has gone from where I first met him....where'd he go?

I think I need to start taking notes, I can't remember it all at my age!
