All I remember it was a HUGE pain in the arse to set those blue pieces up as a child cos I was quite cack handed and they were delicately perched on those stands  Spent more time rebuilding it then actually playing with it!

In fact James May’s toy stories programs just proved to me if I was one of those anal geeks that kept everything in the box, which he hates as shown with the train model episode, my toy collection would have been worth over a million quid as I had tons of rare rare RARE star wars models and figures for example. There was a special shop in Petts Wood where I grew up in Kent and this toy shop was the ultimate in getting in specific figures and stuff. :datass: But alas I was 9 and I wanted to play a star wars galaxy in my bedroom. My mate had like 20 stormtroopers for his death star model and back then it felt like he had a hundred storm troopers in the eyes of a small child! Awesome times.

Nien Nunb is the one. I had TWO of him, which I believe you could only get by sending away the name plates from other boxes.

It's ironic, really, that you had to destroy the boxes in order to get the rare models - which is presumably why boxed original Star wars stuff is so rare.

They also did other awesome sendaway offers, which my mum was brilliant at getting. I had an official grapping hook for Luke, as well as a backpack to carry Yoda in.

But I played with them all.

He has a boxed 6 Million Dollar Man in the film and gets all pissy when someone tries to take it out the box.

As he should do.

I so want that monorail. All you kiddies can keep your Simpsons deformed head rubbish Lego. Give me 80s Lego any day.

Edit - cheapest new sealed one on Bricklink... over 500 notes. Used ones go for around 120.

The "must be boxed" thing only really applies when it's something that can't easily be put back in its box - like action figures with the vacuum formed plastic glued to cardboard. A lot of collector's statues come in boxes that allow you to get the thing out and keep the box in tact.

ANYWAY - I got the Lego LaFerrari today, it's a neat little build, but looks naff-all like an actual LaFerrari. It also has loads of stickers and no printed pieces (other than the minifig). I really think It would have benefited from a piece with a printed Ferrari badge.

An actual LaFerrari:

I appreciate that the car's shape doesn't lend itself to being built in Lego, but they could have done a custom piece for the windscreen or wingmirrors or something to try and capture the appearance of the car.

Crying out to be done in technic.

In other news, the new Pirate theme is £155 to own it all.

Tax rebate coming in this month.

Solid contender for me to squander that money.

YES!

Or even if it was a £40-50 set to afford them a bit more breathing space. The actual car is a two-seater and this only has one, so it really is nothing like it.

I just think it's a shame to have gone to all the trouble of securing the Ferrari license (which is no mean feat) and then just using it on these little £12 sets.

The next Lego Ideas set has been announced

Unsurprisingly its the marble maze, only one that it made any sense to make from that review. I remember seeing this maze years ago and thinking how cool it would be if it was a proper set. Now the wait for it to appear on shelves.....

I think there could be a few sets from that review. Space and science things always seem to do well so the ISS and Science adventures are likely to make it, Discworld will depend on how much appetite there actually is for Discword merch, is an unlikely one in my eyes. As much as Id love to see the Medieval market and the Zelda set get made I cant see it happening, theyve shot down things like them before. Titanic is an interesting one, it looks to be well put together and, obviously, everyone knows about the Titanic so it would sell itself really, just depends how much Lego want to actually put bit into production. The T-Rex could be a goer, I didnt think the bird project was a good one but it got made and on the basis that dinosaurs are cooler than birds its got a chance. The rest of them are a bit gooseberry fool and wont make it.

Shame the Natural History Museum didn't make the cut, it would work well with the other modular sets...

I would also buy the hell out of that Discworld set...

So it's Minecraft, if Minecraft was thought up by and made by a talented developer who actually puts in all the functionality people want rather than railroading his own game in a certain direction and ignoring his original fanbase. Looks pretty sweet! Would be good with online multiplayer.

Im now quite optimistic about Lego World, its looking like Minecraft with world building tools and vehicles. Im assuming it will appear on everything so it will likely be the closest I get to Minecraft on Wii U.
