Ended up watching it last night and it was pretty cool. Some really talented builders and I like that they had a mix of younger and older contestants.
Best way to describe it is as "The Great British Brick-Off". Same kind of format, but with tonnes of LEGO involved. I will admit I'm hoping to see some crying children/man-children in later episodes.

Caught the last 1/2 of it and really enjoyed it. My lego obsessed son was completely consumed by it (particularly the kid making a lego turd) and then spent the next day making his own banquet.

Guess that confirms it, then! Saw a few tiny pictures of the box earlier where they'd obviously cropped out Rey and co, so it was just young Han and Leia which seemed a bit strange, but it's all looking legit now. Dread to think how much it's going to cost...

Hrrrnnnnngnggggggggggg

Thing is, if you could afford to stump up that money and resist ever opening it, keep it sealed freshly away for 10 years, you could probably get ten grand for that set.

I've been putting aside money for this ever since the rumours started back in April - I have saved the exact amount of money!

It's impractically huge, silly money but I'm still going to get it!

I'm all over this and so excited! Buff was the man that got me into lego and have loved it ever since. What's the best way to order this? From the lego store?

Yeah I think so. The Lego.com website which you can placed your order and wait for it to become available to dispatch to you.

It was what I did for Lego NASA Saturn V.

Getting away from how amazing that Millenium Falcon looks and how I'll never be able to justify that kind of money for it, the second part of LEGO Masters was on last night.

Some seriously impressive stuff going on there. These guys really know their stuff and the two engineering students especially were doing really cool things with the Technic blocks.

That Millennium Falcon is obviously impressive, but not being a huge Star Wars fan I really wish they would do more large scale sets of other things. It would be nice to get something like a plane or car model, or even a building, that could match this for size and intricacy.

They have the modular building series which is pretty popular from what I can tell, theyre about as big as "vanilla" lego sets could go I reckon. I dont think theyll ever do a building on this scale as you need people to have some kind of emotional attachment to a set of this size. If they produced a minifig scale model of the White House, complete with furnished rooms, motorcade and Air Force Two, it would look amazing but I dont think youd have many buyers at $800/£650.

Out of curiosity, what would you like to see them make at this scale that you would be happy to drop that kind of money on? The only thing I can think that might work is a stadium of some kind, something like Fenway Park or the Nou Camp but I dont think they would have the same kind of wow factor as large Star Wars sets.

Poser wrote:Looking for some suggestions, guys.

Last year I bought the Christmas train, Santa's workshop, the winter toyshop, as well as the city train (with motor) to extend the track and power the train. In the end, I only assembled the train (and kept it up a height) as the boy had just started to crawl, and it would have been a disaster

This year, I'm looking to create a festive diorama, in the alcove we have at the front of our living room. I'm also considering lining the walls with images of snowcapped mountains. It'll have the train going around it, the two other models around, and I'm considering adding the carousel as well, if I can fund it.

What material do you think I could use to create a 'snow' effect on the floor? At a guess, I'd say it's about a square metre so I probably can't stretch to filling the space with white lego base plates (if they even exist). Whatever I use needs to be capable of allowing the minifigs to stand up (so if I used a foam, it would need to be quite firm.)

I'm not hugely creative so any suggestions appreciated.

Have you seen this yet?

Oh yeah I absolutely understand that from a sales perspective Star Wars is the safe bet for them.

Personally I think there could be a market for large scale models of things like the architecture range they have been doing - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Arc De Triomphe etc. Or in a similar vein to the recent Apollo 11 set they could do large models of other iconic vehicles - Titanic, Concorde, Flying Scotsman etc.

But yes, it would be a tougher sell from a commercial perspective. I guess the point is that I enjoy working on larger sets that take time to put together, I just want something other than a Star Wars space ship to have to show for it at the end!
