I hope so. I plan on trying to get a preorder in before the double VIP points offer expires :datass:

I bought the Ferrari F40 yesterday as I needed to spend the rewards I had by the end of the year. I was tempted to get the Caterham instead but it was the same price as the F40 and has nearly 400 fewer bricks. Easy choice in the end.

I've just bought the Winter Toy Shop and Santa's Workshop. Unlikely to build them until next Christmas, though :slol:

I just want to gradually build up a Christmas scene around the holiday train. I can have the workshop at one end of the tracks, and the toyshop at the other end. This year I'm sticking with just the train, though.

Picked up some advent calendars during double points week, they arrived much quicker than normal, I was impressed.

That Christmas scene idea is a great one, Ive thought about doing it but I have nowhere to put it at the moment, Id love to have some Lego dotted around the place as decorations.

I like this idea and I'm thinking of copying you. I may only get the train and one of the winter toy shop or santas workshop this year though.

I was going to ask... actually I am indeed asking- is the LEGO online shop the best place to go for this?

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Almost certainly. The Lego site rarely does discounts, but nor does it over-inflate prices. And the VIP points is a decent enough reward system.

Oh, and it often sends freebies. I just got a Christmas themed countdown/advent set. Lovely stuff.

That's where I'l be going then. The Yellow Submarine set's on the website, but there doesn't seem to be a pre-order option. I'll order early on Tuesday morning...

...quite tempted by the Architect Studio set.

I managed to pick up the Yellow Submarine set in Toys R Us yesterday. As with most of the Ideas sets the price is a bit steep vs the piece count but the presentation box is nice and the final build is delightful.

Anyone got the Porsche 911 yet? It looks great, but £250!? Yikes.

It's currently £200 at Smyths

You can also get £20 off for spending over £100 until the end of today, (Code TS20) so you can effectively get it for £180

Plus 3% cashback via topcashback, you're looking at £175

That's more like it!

The other issue is that its huge. Even if I could justify it at that price (and it does look nice in person), its far to big to fit anywhere I have for it.

Brick Live was lots of fun, collected the cards for the free Green Arrow dimensions character was crazy at times. They'd be mad not to do that again next year for something similar as it worked really well. There was a cool Fairy Bricks mosaic thing happening as well that was free and took a decent amount of time (you got given a bag of lego, a baseplate and instructions and you had to make a section of the larger mosaic). Quite a decent amount to do, well worth £20 each. Not sure Premium would have been worth the extra cash though, forgot to ask someone what they got in their goodie bag. Definitely going again next year.

Also got asked what presents the grand kids wanted for Christmas so managed to order up two sets along with the train power stuff and got double VIP points and the advent freebie. Result!

The two Christmas sets arrived on Saturday - toy shop and Santa's workshop - and they are both lovely sets, full of neat little touches. As much as it pains me, I've put them both in the loft for this year; I'm only going to do the train set.

We have an alcove by the window at the front of the living room and, while I'm not really a very creative person, I'm now constantly thinking of ways I can turn the whole thing into a diorama that grows each year. Tempted to get some fake snow to put down :shifty:

The wife is on board with the idea, though I'm not sure if she realises yet how far my plans are reaching

I went to the opening of a new Smyths toy shop yesterday with my daughter and they were handing out goody bags. My one contained an Avengers Quinjet lego set (mini one, not the £70 one that I just googled!), which I built this morning. I followed the instructions to the letter, but I'm left with 2 spare pieces that don't seem to go anywhere on the set. Do Lego normally leave a couple of spare bits just in case?

Could you actually get the minifig there? It usually goes for about £40 on ebay :shifty:
