I wanted all four parts, which is why it would have come to so much. The City Train arrived yesterday, looks good. Not really my personal taste (bit clean and modern) so it'll probably be used for spares.

If yours is sealed you should sell it. Here's why:
If they re-release, the value of your will crash. Still be valuable, but you'd probably lose around £4k.
If you ever wanted to actually build it (which I assume is unlikely because you haven't built it yet), you could buy a used one for dramaticaly less than your sealed one will sell for.
£5600 is silly money, cash in.

Really good photos, sorted in photoshop, and convincing copy. Ebay, with a reserve (it will sell so don't worry about the fee) and a 14 day action, maybe even 30 days. Or gumtree to snag a good chunk in fees otherwise and avoid a scam. Very scam worthy item
and obviously you want to package it like mad and use UPS.
Aren't there a few big adult fan lego forums, you could try selling in a trade folder there? This is the sort of thing that should probably be sold face to face, it's worth more than a car.
I think there is also some kind of dedicated lego auction site?

I'm thinking you need to put the effort in to get a good, safe deal. But ebay might be fine to pull in a lot of punters. Automated bidding war etc.

Ebay's a dreadful hassle and they'll take far too large a cut. I'd just sell it on here.

I just put this together yesterday (spoilered for big image),
I picked it up after buying one of the smaller sets in the same range a little while ago. It took me bloody ages, around 6-7 hours I think and despite the series being marketed more at kids I think younger kids would have struggled with this as there are a lot of small parts and even elements of what would have been reserved for Lego Technic in days gone by for many of the mechanisms.

The live stuff was horrid cringe stuff, "lets get ready to leGO!! Let's get ready to leGO!!" but the models are exceptional.

New&Sealed sets can sell for between £3.5k and £9k. This is where you get into the nitty gritty of just how "mint condition" yours is. Does the box have any dings or scuffs? Has the print faded at all? And so on. Take as many high quality photos as you can and list it on there.

Yes, and edit them, check the levels, to get vivid colour and a strong black in the photos. It makes things look much more new, and real, and is exactly what product shots do.
Good shout on the USD, yes US customers think things are a good deal when they see the price in $ so you can actually aim higher with your price and make more money.
