My Wall-E fix kit is on the way, it took 2 emails, one to ask for it and one to confirm my address. I love when companies have good customer service like that.

Although it proves that the bricks and supply chain are so cheap that they can just send this gooseberry fool out for free and yet still sell the sets for hundreds in store.

No question it's up there with Apple as THE global brand success story of the past decade or so.

It is only two months to go Christmas and I’d like to have a new LEGO set similar to NASA Saturn V. I like the idea of something to build a new Lego set on Christmas Day. Does anyone know what they will be selling for Christmas time? Or any other suggestions that I should get one?

Personally, the camper van is one of my favourites, the sister sets of the mini and the beetle are also great. Theyre not on the scale of the Saturn V but few sets will be, especially at that price range.

It all kinda comes down to personal taste though, if you like buildings then stuff like the modular series look to be great builds, theres tower bridge and the architecture series too. The Star Wars stuff can be hugely impressive if you like Star Wars, theres 2 big Simpsons sets, the new Pirates of the Carribbean movie might be gooseberry fool but the Lego set to go with it is pretty great and the Ghostbusters Firehouse is an amazing build. The Ferris Wheel is a popular build and theres a range of "Winter" themed sets that they release every year, last years train was a popular one. The Hard to Find section of the Lego shop is a good jumping in point, have a look and see what tickles your fancy.

BOR, what about the big orange Porsche? It's for sale for £185 at Very, and they do a 20% new account discount. (It means signing up for a credit account, so only do this if you have a good credit rating, and if you can pay the balance off straight away, as it's a 40% APR.)

Worth it for £37 off the Porsche, though! That's £148 instead of the RRP of £220.

The Porsche is cool, but its more technic than standard lego. Id prefer the F40, for that reason.

The lights look good. Did you use an official lego lighting kit? I'm considering ways to light my street scene. The bulky Lego batteries are putting me off so would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used them.


(You may remember I was looking for white 'snowy' surfaces, so I can lay it out on the carpet. I've settled on this foam board stuff. It comes in A3 size, should be easy to cut, will allow the minifigs to stand up and isn't messy or expensive:)

They're unofficial lights, but surprisingly good quality. They consist of some modified 'clone' bricks and some very fine wires (small enough to pass between bricks pressed together), and then they plug into any USB power source. I had to overcome my 'not-official-lego' issues but the end result is worth it I reckon.

Some of the ones I have seen have thicker wires so be careful if buying this kind of thing. My cousin bought them for me when he was out in Hong Kong so he could check them out first hand.

I think I'll get a kit for the Haunted House too.

Poser, why not check out a shop that does stuff for warhammer or minifigs? They will have the best scenery or basing materials around for strawberry float all.

Yeah, we went last year and it was good fun (though very busy). They had a card collecting thing going on there in combination with Lego Dimensions and we got a free Green Arrow fig. There was also some fun building opportunities including a huge floor mosaic. Lots of stuff to do and some fantastic models there as well. Then there is a big marketplace at the back that has loads of small stalls and a decent sized Toysrus store too (the store had an offer where if you spent £50 then you got a free Geoffrey Lego kit which was surprisingly good).

I hadn't thought of that. There's a Games Workshop in Newcastle, I think. Will have a look.
