Just example products: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Painting-Modelling

And depending on the vibe of your christmas scene: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Ork- ... -Belly-Gun

Third parties will almost certainly be cheaper and you dont have to worry about colour compatability.

Good find! They look nice, are more detailed, the downside is they are about 50% more expensive (approx. £30+postage compared with £19+postage for the ones I have)

I just bought the Haunted house set for <£20 incl postage. Not too bad. Some of the modular lighting kits are almost half the price of the set.

I hadn't thought of that. :fp: There's a Games Workshop in Newcastle, I think. Will have a look.

If you're going to go down that route I'd just get some polysytrene sheets. Foam board is really expensive for what it is and is designed for making models and mounting photographs perfectly flush. There's actually a tough layer of polymerised card glued to each side of the foam that's quite hard to remove without destroying the whole thing, it's basically a cheaper form of infeasibly thick card. Tends to be used by set designers and suchlike. You could however use that as a base, layer it up, and then just smother loads of pva on it and apply some bulk snow flock from eBay or wherever. That will look good. Think the topographic map in Breath of the Wild. Use a Stanley knife.

I love some of the detailing on it, but I just wish that a few of the panels fitted a little firmer. Pretty much all of the top panels aren't actually secured at all (they're just fitted with axles slotted through round holes in various beams in the structure), and the tunnel to the cockpit just sits on top of the beam rather than actually fixing into anything.

Still, it's a fantastic thing. Going to look into securing a few of the panels properly, and then I'm going to try and wall-mount it. This can only end well :slol: Need to stock up on a few more Star Wars minifigs, too. Want to get a full set of main characters to go with the Falcon!

(Also, imgur says that the pictures are resized, but they're still showing up huge for me, so apologies if they're like that for anyone else)

Double VIP points on the Lego shop at the moment, nows the time to pick up your stuff for Xmas. You also get a VIP set if you go over a certain amount, its €125 but I have no idea what that is in brexit bucks.

I got the advent calendars, some of the "Winter" sets to make a start on my Xmas village setup and I picked up a box of Duplo for the little one cos she loves breaking dat Duplo apart. Putting it together is of no interest but all that is made must be destroyed!

Seems to be £100 in Brexit bucks :slol: I was gonna nab the advent calendars too, but I'm not sure if I should leave some of my buying until they do the christmas freebies.

They've done Christmas themed giveaways in the past so I'm holding off until they introduce this year's.

Last year's snowglobe set was a beautiful little thing.

That Lego Technic 40th anniversary set is tugging on some serious retro heartstrings. The Technic car chassis from the late 70s/80s was probably my favourite set when I was a kid.

I don't like the fact that it's taking pieces from 3 different sets. I'd much rather it just be a set in and of itself.

I was sick the last couple of days so I spent my time being productive and putting together my "winter" sets, theyre really nice little pieces I have to say. Im a little disappointed the train didnt come with any of the power fucntions in the box as it looks so much better in motion, but theyre not a huge expense so I think Ill pick up those few bits and make the train move under its own power before I properly set it all up. I also thinkin some lighting would go very well with it but Ill wait until its all in and see what the best solution is there.

Some really good prices on Amazon at the moment, not sure who they're price matching. Picked up the Ninjago Ultimate weapon set for £57 (instead of £80) and the Technic motorbike for around £36 (sure it's usually over 50 quid).

It seems like Lego have been spying on you, as they’re relreleasing the Taj Mahal set next month!

Ooh now that is nice!

I would be very tempted, just need to find a way to keep the kids' hands off it! Hopefully it sells well enough that they do more in this scale.

Annoyingly, the Christmas giveaway (orders over £60) seems to be the same 24-in-1 Advent thing they did last year. Which I already have and didn't use.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. I’ve still got two from last year I’ve been meaning to move on :fp:
