Are the calendars worth buying? I've never had one and I fancy a change from crap chocolate this year.

I think theyre great, the City calendar will build a scene as the days go by, (eg one day youll get a snowmobile, another day a trailer for it, a third day some presents to put in the trailer), whereas the Star Wars one tends to be just standalone figures and ships.

I love them. Really enjoy doing it and genuinely makes me a little bit excited every day.

It all kinda comes down to personal taste though, if you like buildings then stuff like the modular series look to be great builds, theres tower bridge and the architecture series too. The Star Wars stuff can be hugely impressive if you like Star Wars, theres 2 big Simpsons sets, the new Pirates of the Carribbean movie might be gooseberry fool but the Lego set to go with it is pretty great and the Ghostbusters Firehouse is an amazing build. The Ferris Wheel is a popular build and theres a range of "Winter" themed sets that they release every year, last years train was a popular one. The Hard to Find section of the Lego shop is a good jumping in point, have a look and see what tickles your fancy.

Poser wrote:BOR, what about the big orange Porsche? It's for sale for £185 at Very, and they do a 20% new account discount. (It means signing up for a credit account, so only do this if you have a good credit rating, and if you can pay the balance off straight away, as it's a 40% APR.)

Worth it for £37 off the Porsche, though! That's £148 instead of the RRP of £220.

Cheers all. I will have a look at it.

Late to reply as my laptop had been repaired for a couple of weeks.

It's until the 22nd Nov so maybe something more interesting will be available after that?

Good spot, hadn't noticed that.

This year's Brick Friday special is a Nutcracker decoration.

Not as nice as last year's but I'll get it.

Glad I didn’t do all my lego shopping already. I’m all over that in a few weeks

Thread needs more pictures of Lego building. Although that lit up camper is sick.

Noticed a post on HotUKDeals that indicated there was a £10 off £60 voucher in the middle of the new physical catalogue. Voucher is valid for November through to January and you can order one on the site. Might be worth a punt now ahead of Black Friday and the Nutcracker decoration.

I think I saw something about £5 off Lego with PayPal on HUKD

Yes, there is a paypal offer of £5 off, and you can combine it with £10 off a £60 spend from the catalogue

I got the winter village toy shop for £50 !

However, you don't get any other promotional sets as per terms and conditions. I tried to see if it was possible with customer service but they wouldn't budge.

I've randomly started looking through old Lego space sets from the early 80s and I feel like I've been gut punched with nostalgia. So many sets I'd forgotten existed, but just seeing one picture i could remember snippets of building them, playing with them, showing the finished build to my parents.

I ache with nostalgia at the moment, I wish I'd never got rid of my Lego.

The old space sets are one of the old Lego sets I really wish would make a comeback.
Those and the underwater sets,

Two of my favourite non-Technic/non-Model Team sets when I was a kid. So much more original stuff back then.
Speaking of Model Team, those need to come back as well.

Man, that underwater base is a blast from the past. I wish I'd kept a lot of the pieces for some of those old sets together. I've got about 10 of those big storage boxes just full of thousands of pieces in the spare room, I don't think I'd ever have the patience to go through and sort the right parts out...

Would love to get the bits for all the Cybermaster sets and the like together again, too. Wonder if anyone's put the instructions online for the few sets that they released with assembly instructions on interactive CDs. I loved the pneumatic submarine set, but it doesn't look quite as impressive now :(

The other set I *always* wanted was this bad boi:
